How long since you bought? Prices are up a lot on diamonds and gold over the past couple of years...

I recently helped a friend (this spring) with an engagement ring and the Tacori rings had moved to $5500 to $7500 without the stone...

Sounds about right.. Wedding band was another 1200-1400 if I recall. I know a place in the mall that has since closed down wanted 2800 for it and another 1800 for the wedding band at the time and 4600 for simular spec stone. That was rediculous. Went through a place in Atlanta to get it.

Anybody that pays over $5k or $6k for an engagement ring is a fricking idiot. My wife and I make over $100k a year and at the time I was buying she insisted that I not spend over a couple grand. If you're lady wants you to spend a lot, your marriage will fail. If you insist on spending a lot to show her all your "love", your marriage will fail

EGL is way off GIA's standards, but it should be priced in. After doing my research I ended up thinking color was more important than I originally thought and clarity was less important than I originally thought. Difference between a G and H was much more of a deal than between VS2 and SI1.

I recommend diamondse.info as a pricing point too, looks like pricescope is similar. I just know that you got a big discount from B2C jewels if you go through diamondse.info vs going straight to the B2C site.

STFU with that bullshite, if somebody wants to spend 100k on a ring, has nothing to do with whether or not people love or don't love each other. It's what you can afford.

Go 2 carat or go home

Eta: I believe in buying a ring once. Refuse to ever :upgrade:

making over 100k means 2 teachers.

100k doesn't go far if both parents are working.

How does having 1 person making 100k and one person at home go further?

I know if my wife were at home she would be buying shite all day long. Now it does save on daycare if you have kids and some gas. But that would be eaten up by my wife shopping.

He also said over 100k.. That could just as easily mean 150k too.

I will not be buying an overly expensive ring. I would get a diamond created in a lab if it didn't have the stigma that comes along with it.

The ring I purchased appraised for 24k.... I purchased for much cheaper. It's 1.5 canary yellow center with halo setting white gold band. Another 3 for the band.

No one has to know. People drool over my wife's ring and we just laugh silently. I spent more on the setting than the diamond. The only way a jeweler knows is because it is perfect

Correct me if i'm wrong but lab created diamonds are still relatively small. The last I checked you're limited to less than 1 carat stones. For N2 entrained yellow diamonds it may be smaller than that. Of course that was 2 years ago that I last looked.
