If you are you’d be wise to GTFO while you can.

Why? I heard there is great opportunity right now for some exciting startup called fty or ftx or something. You could supposedly increase any investment by 10 fold in 1 year.

Nope, got out around like 35 or so, thank god. A 20k lesson learned but could have been so much worse.

Last year I literally bought 1 share of coin base just to follow the industry.

I’m glad I did not load up.

I do, but that's because I forgot I had some Bitcoin in voyager. Found out when I decided to start reading all the emails from them and found out I have a very small balance. Apparently dropped $2k in several years ago and have roughly 0.1 coins. Can't get it out because of their reorganization filing; ironically looked like it was going to get cashed out until FTX filed for bankruptcy themselves.

Nah. I'm DCAing.

We're at peak fear right now, but the fundamentals of the good projects haven't changed. When the teams stop building, or when the technology stops being developed, I'll consider leaving.

Within the last few months I’ve committed 1-2% of my portfolio to it. Right now my crypto holdings are 55% bitcoin/45% matic.

Bitcoin, eth, and matic is all I would advise anyone to invest in right now.

I put a little in to keep me interested enough to keep up with it.

Only BTC though. Never went into the shite coins as that was just so obviously scammy.

All that to say no idea what FTX is/was but have read about what happened.

Have considered actually getting a wallet now instead of using Coinbase and have been thinking about buying a bit more BTC.

Things will be worse in 18 months

Or they’ll be a lot better like if Putin saves us or something

I started investing just before the wreck in 2007 and have largely listened to Warren Buffet advice of buy great American companies whenever they are down and invest in what you know.

I freely admit I don’t understand crypto and have avoided it. Instead I will stick to things I understand like low cost index funds and my own unfulfilled potential.

Yes. I've gone through this four times now previously, so my "vomitility index" is very low. I've also never owned/traded anything other than Bitcoin/ETH and I keep everything on a Trezor. I suppose I also owned Bitcoin Cash/SV when it was air dropped, but I converted that quickly.

Yep. Everyone learns the hard way there is only Bitcoin.

The rest is gambling (and I do it).

Does anyone really “invest” in crypto around here?

I think it’s more of a trading vehicle. Investing takes some understanding of valuation and crypto currencies really Don’t have any material value.
