Credit Card Swiped Twice at Store

I was at Target today, and as has been the case recently, my new chip enabled credit card was causing some problems. After inserting the card, I was finally prompted for a signature, signed, but then the register would not produce a receipt. The cashier fiddled with the computer and then said the charge didn't go through and had me re-insert the card. This time, I didn't have to sign but pressed "OK" to accept the charge.
A receipt was printed, and I immediately checked my credit card account on my phone and I have 2 charges pending for the same amount. The new chips are very frustrating, and I have a feeling this won't be the first time I have an issue.
Do I have any recourse here? Both charges are pending, but if they do post, do I take this issue up with Target or the card company?

Very good possibility it is seeking two authorizations but will only charge once. Wouldn't worry about it until I saw two charges actually hit the account.

It's possible that the cashier ran your card through twice by mistake but the chip has absolutely nothing to do with it. Take it up with Target for a double charge, the card company will have no idea what happened.

Yep, I doubt the CC company will let two identical amounts go through back to back like that. If so, just dispute one of the charges.

I would check with the merchant.. they will fix it internally or work it out with the processing company (different than the cc company)...

Home Depot self checkout registers won't take my new chip debit card from capital one

Just wait for the charges to fully post. I'm sure one of those double charges will go away.

This a problem with Target sucking arse, not a chip

Wait until all the charges go through. i.e. Not pending.
More thank likely one will drop off, but if not, call then credit card company and let them handle. Don't bother calling the merchant.

Happened to me several years ago at a local grocery store; didn't notice until I looked at my bank statement. Brought it to them and they refunded my money without issue.

I had this happen recently. When they actually posted, I was only charged once.
