Figured out what the problem was. I picked up the MB MCGCs instead of Bancorp. These are the troublemakers that don't seem to work anywhere.

Well, good news is that everything in the world is still in order

Don't mean to pick but make sure you are looking at SGN (not SNG). Also check HAN. If flying into BKK or SIN is an option, then you have some more options. Catch a cheap intra-asia flight on one of the LCCs. Lastly - which AmeX card do you have? There have been business class sales lately which you can purchase @ 2 cpp if you have amex bus plat. If none of these work out, let me know. I'll look into it.

Still no luck with SGN. We each have the Personal Plat Amex and Buisness Gold (That's how we both have 180k pts). Not really planning to keep these cards after a year so I'm ok with blowing all these points.

BKK or SIN not really an option but would like to go SIN after this SGN trip. Looking to go for a couple of weeks late December. Thx!

I can tell you without even looking that that is going to be tough. Last two weeks of December are almost always blocked or booked. Need to book as soon as award space opens up (365 days in advance) for that period.

ETA: But what do I know. Found December 19 - 29 to SGN on EVA Air Business class. 272K for 2 pax + $290 (through ANA). Bar the Hello Kitty overload, its a great product. Reverse Herringbone 1-2-1 config. All in all a great redemption imo. You need to book this ASAP due to the above mentioned reason.

Nice find! I'll probably head to SGN sometime next year.

What's the best credit card deal out there right now? Already have CSR. Have a couple big purchases coming up that I'd like to snag some rewards

Need advise please- Wife and I have had Alaska air B of A visa's for several years. I heard about Chase Saf Reserve offer last year so we each applied and got them. Worked out so great ( first experience with Chase) we decided to move personal checking and business checking with Chase which we did last week. Had Been with Regions for 20 + years. Our goal is to each have two personal Chase cards and one for business. My wife applied online three weeks ago for Southwest personal and Southwest business in same day. Approved for personal but denied for business. Called Chase but they still won't approve. Business is 20 + years old. I applied online today for Hyatt Card and it says under review. Our credit scores are 806 and 812. Very little debt. Good income. What are we doing wrong? I read about Chase limiting people to 5 cards in two years. They don't seem to want to give us 5 between the two of us. Any ideas?

You are correct about the 5/24 rule. However, you are overlooking the other possible limitations such as frequency of your apps. Chase does not have a known limit. However, several reports indicate that Chase is highly sensitive to multiple applications within a short time period, and that the second (or subsequent) applications run a substantial risk of being denied. In many cases, this is likely related to Chase's practice of allocating a large credit line (up to an applicant's personal maximum) when approving a new card such as the first application in a series.

(800) 432-3117 – General Application Status Line, automated
Note: In the past, automated telephone status reports stating that Chase would notify you in 2 weeks often resulted in an approval, whereas the "7-10 days" telephone recording often indicated imminent denial. In 2016, this pattern became increasingly unpredictable, with many applicants receiving approval despite an earlier "7-10 days" automated telephone message. As a result, automated telephone responses should not be regarded as reliable indicators of an application's likely outcome.

How does 2 years of free travel for 2 people sound? (On SWA).

Apply for:
1) SW Premier
2) SW Plus

They both give you 50K after $3K spend. So 106K points after 3K. Make another 4K points somehow and you earn the SW companion pass. BOGO tickets on SW for flights booked with money OR points (which you will have a lot of).

I got a chase Hyatt in oct. And 2 chase southwest within 3 min of each other in Jan. But when I got the 2 in Jan the first gave me 10k and the second only gave me 2k.

Thanks for the info. They did give up 30 k plus lines of credit on each of the CSR cards. Maybe all the credit is on that card ?

Edit / update: I called the number and I have been approved for the Hyatt Card. Now I just have to get my wife approved for SW business and we will be set with points and companion pass !!

Or just apply for the SW Plus linked above which is a personal card also. Get the 50K. If declined, offer to move credit around from CSR.

Nice. I even paid the AF on both this year since the cost of the points was far below the benefit (times 2 due to CP). I was trying to burn as many UR as I could through CP too. But I was literally unable to use the 110K, Anniversary bonus and the referral bonuses.

I don't see anything on either one of those about a companion pass, what am I missing?

Companion pass has nothing to do with Credit cards. It is southwest's "top tier status." Any year you earn 110K points, they give you a BOGO pass. The credit cards help you get to 104K in one fell swoop, and these points count towards the 110K needed for the CP.

Companion pass allows a guest to accompany you an unlimited number of times for taxes + fees. It is legit

I have a companion pass (thanks to spg/mariotte) but have not bothered to call in and clarify but was wondering....Is it that you can designate a companion 3x per calendar year or that once you designate someone, you can actually still change your companion 3x afterwards per calendar year? I have read some conflicting reports.

I think it is the second one if I read your stuff right.

Think of it in terms of the card you get as a companion pass member (and technically need to carry as companion), you can change whose name is on that pass like 3 times
