I see the 100 k offer for CSR

But it has an annual fee of $450 that is charged upfront, the 100k points is worth roughly 3 domestic round trip tickets on United. So is the logic that I'm getting roughly 3 round trips for my initial $450 and then transfer the points to united miles and either cancel the card before 1 year or downgrade it to a no annual fee card before 1 year and the second $450 is due?

I also see the $300 travel credit but it has an * by it and I cannot find the fine print on that

Dont know where you are getting the 3 domestic RT from. At saver level domestic RT on UA is 25K. So that is 4 domestic RTs. The $300 travel credit is for reimbursable travel expenses upto $300 per year. This includes any hotel, airfare charge.

At the very least, 100K points will be worth $1.5K when redeemed for travel through the UR portal. Not only this, any existing UR can be redeemed at 1.5c instead of 1.25c when you transfer them to CSR first and then redeem.

Anything that codes as travel qualifies for the $300

This isn't an exhaustive list but according to Chase

quote:

“Merchants in the travel category include airlines, hotels, motels, timeshares, campgrounds, car rental agencies, cruise lines, travel agencies, discount travel sites, and operators of passenger trains, buses, taxis, limousines, ferries, toll bridges and highways, and parking lots and garages.”

So I will wind up paying $150 for 100k United miles which is awesome.

What about canceling before the 12 months and second $450 is due? Is that an issue? Will they want the miles back?

Use $300 before December, $300 after and cancel on month 12 if you want to. So you come out with 100K points and + $150. (Plus other fringe benefits for a year)

Are there still airlines that do a flat point fee for domestic flights?? I see Southwest and Delta are now based upon the cost of the fare and not a flat point value for anywhere domestic. Trying to look into a flight from MSY to San Francisco next year using Chase points

Delta and SW are a bit different. SW does it based on actual fare price based on a formula. Delta just has dynamic price levels that only Delta understands.

United, AA, Singapore (on UA), Flying Blue and Korean (on Delta) are all 12.5K each way, 25K RT.

I think your best option would be to transfer to SW. Should'nt be hard to stay under 12.5K each way.

Thanks! I'll check out the fares and point prices for UA and SW to determine which will give me the most bang for the point

United has a nonstop flight from MSY that would be ideal but all of their flights are 25k points ONE WAY to SFO. 50k round trip

Southwest Wanna Get Away fares are running ~11,500 points one way

CSR- I purchased $300 southwest gift card for myself 3 days ago and the travel credits has already posted in my account. For me, it takes the guessing out of my travel credits and no pressure to spend unnecessary travel dollars just for the sake of it.

Just make sure you purchase directly through southwest.com as I know that their gift cards are definitely coded as travel.

United MPX app should work as well. Could buy Amazon GCs there. More cash like IMO. Only time you should need SW $ is to pay tax on caribbean flights JK

Got turned down for CSR. 6 fig income, 740+ score. Reason- i opened 5 cards last month. Too many new cards they told me.

Any ideas around this? Waiting to again?
