It is a good card but the Executive card gets me more benefits and I can get myself and 3 others in Admiral's Club free. However, with the Centurion Club opening in Miami with freebies upon entry the Amex Platinum wins a battle.

Came back to this thread to post about the 100k platinum Amex offer I received in the mail but went back a couple pages and saw someone mentioned it. Highest sign up offer I've ever seen but I'm not nearly as experienced as most on here with credit cards and points and rewards.

Wish list for the year:
Chase Sapphire Preffered 50k or greater offer(finally eligible again). Chase is very proud of that card. They don't give retention offers and haven't bumped up the signup in a while.
Amex SPG 30k offer which is effectively 35k with the 5k referral bonus.
Chase Ink 70k
BOA Alaska air 40-50k offer
I think I'm going to take a different approach in the coming year and stop doing the Apporamas. Instead just wait for good offers to come out. My FICO has been hovering in the 750-765 range the last couple of months. I don't really want it dropping below 750. My first year of apporamas are about to fall off so that should help.
Any other hopeful offers? I doubt we will see another 100k Citi exec card. I doubt that was a money maker for Citi.

British Airways 50k for me (Wife got it already earlier this year)
Korean Air 40k targeted offer (I just might do this one)
CSP in September per eligibility.
Alaska Air would be nice if it got over 20k or whatever it is. Highly churnable though apparently.
My first year on the train was 2013 as well, so things should start falling off next month.

i agree with you about no apporamas this year. I'm expanding my business over the next several years. We have 1.2 million points/miles accumulated right now and we earn a big pile every month from regular personal and business spending. If a great offer comes along I'll probably bite on it but other than that I am sitting pat right now.

Ya, I'm just accruing before having a kid. We have our trip to Thailand this December and then hopefully another trip before kids. I may run into the whole, have points but no chance to go thing, but as long as I'm not paying anything to accrue them I might as well keep doing so. They'll come in handy for domestic adventures.
I guess I should add I'm awaiting the SW Plus 50k bonus for this year as we did Premiers last year.

I am going to do the CSP and Freedom in July
Open to any other great offers that may come up. As long as they are not Chase.

my monthly spend isn't enough for me to do an apporama.
In July, a blip from Chase falls off my credit report so I'll be able to apply cards with them.
I was also looking at the AMEX PRG as there's a targeted offer for 50k points for 1k spend in 3 months. My only issue would be what do I do once that year is up? I don't want to pay the $175 annual fee.

I have Discover 2% cash back on most purchases doesn't cost me anything. Pay it off in full every month.

Yeah. I'll probably do this by year end when credit score creeps back up.

Welcome to the party, Bacon Hope to see you on a Star Alliance flight one day. I won't tell Delta.

Cancel it. Usually not a big deal if you have average or better credit history.
quote:Doesn't get you anywhere either. If you don't travel at all, that's a fine card, but if you travel 2-3 times a year, you can do much better.

They really need a credit card that earns 5x points for vet visits.

Hahaha - been there done that. 13 teeth removed last vet visit. I thought he was going to have to eat wet dog food the rest of his life
Vet said nope give him a week and he'll be fine eating the dry stuff again

We have two dogs and in addition to the vet they get groomed every four weeks. The money I spend there. Giant Schnauzers.

Gunning for the 60k/70k offer this year. That said, if they don't push it out in the next month, I'm going to have to decide whether to let my Ink Bold lapse and just not have a premium card, or just take the 50k offer.

Once we move out of the city that's what we will get. We currently have a Miniature Schnauzer. He is awesome

$195 annual fee after this year. On flyertalk there are plenty of people who have gotten the fee waived by the retention department... and plenty more who were told to go screw themselves. Just depends on the rep, I guess.

More to do with how much spend the user put on that particular card
