Just letting you know if you have non-Fee cards with large UR balances... It is time to start transferring.

quote:

"They wanted to know how users would feel about the following options:

“When you combine the Ultimate Rewards points on eligible Chase Cards they would retain their original redemption value – that is, when transferred the points would retain the redemption value of the product they were initially earned on. For example you would not earn a travel redemption bonus if your transfer from a no fee card to a Fee card.”

“You can only combine Ultimate Reward points between no-annual fee cards or between annual fee cards. You cannot combine Ultimate Rewards points between a no-annual fee card and an annual fee card.”

“You can combine Ultimate Rewards points on eligible Chase cards at a 3:2 conversion ratio. For example if you would like to transfer 15,000 points from your Freedom Unlimited card to your Sapphire Reserve account, your Sapphire Reserve would be credited with 10,000 points (a 3:2 ratio). The transferred points would be granted the redemption value and options of the account to which they are transferred into.”

All three of these options are terrible and significantly devalue the current value you can get from the Chase Freedom Unlimited (1.5x Chase UR on all purchases) and the Chase Freedom (5x Chase UR on rotating categories).

If they made these changes I assume they would also affect your ability to transfer the points to Chase’s travel partners as well. Obviously this is just a preliminary survey to see how customers would feel about these changes, but it isn’t good to see Chase even considering these types of negative changes."

Well I guess I'm glad we just "cashed out" 375k UR points for our next trip.

This is some bullshite.

Glad the lady and I just burned through about 300k as well.

If these changes go through, it would simply hurt the Freedom and Ink Cash, but it would basically make the Freedom Unlimited obsolete.

So you could still get cash back, just not transfer points?

Can't transfer the points which is still a huge blow. The best and fastest ways to earn cash back points I believe is using Freedom and Preferred and being able to use those points together. That fricking sucks and is the sole reason why I have both of these cards.

Last part of article states "If they made these changes I assume they would also affect your ability to transfer the points to Chase’s travel partners as well. Obviously this is just a preliminary survey to see how customers would feel about these changes, but it isn’t good to see Chase even considering these types of negative changes."

So just surveying right now but yeah still ridiculous to even think about doing it.

Eh, I don't think this is a big deal. Credit card companies are always adjusting their rules. It is easy to move over to a new card for the consumer so go check out the latest deal and go with a new company if this is that bad of a deal for you.

IF it went into effect, I'd abruptly cancel the Freedom Unlimited, CSP, and CSR after cleaning the rewards out...my loses and move on. No need for drama and move on to the next bank that likes my business.

If you're in the awards game it most definitely is a big deal. I've booked business class with my wife to four continents with this program. It's the easiest to use with great earn structure, which is probably why this is floating out there.

Sure, you can adjust but it's a big loss if it goes through. I'd have to get back into some other schemes to make up the difference.

I already have been moving a lot of spend to my 2.5% USAA card. This change would make it my permanent card for almost everything
