State Farm lost $7 billion last year in auto insurance.
Shop around.

No real answer to your question about "value", though.

I think every single insurance company is raising rates. I'd stick w/ State Farm if you've been with them for a long time. Last thing you want is to switch to a new company, have a claim and then they drop you. Or, switch to a new company, and then they raise their rates 2 months later.

Been with Farm Bureau of Louisiana for 15 years. Only had 1 claim in that time frame. Rates have not increased much over 15 years. Also have them for Homeowners.

Very satisfied

I've been with State Farm for 20 years now. Have my homeowner's, umbrella, and everything else with them too. Never been unhappy with them.

That said, auto insurance rates here aren't nearly what they were in LA. And I'm not under 25 anymore.

I shopped while in Louisiana. that's the best way to save. Here in AL now, ALFA is the best by far for me, so cheap and has never increased.

Insurance companies value new customers way more than their current customers. I shop around for insurance every one to two years. You've got a handful of reputable companies.

State Farm
AllState
Liberty Mutual
MetLife
Progressive
Geico

State Farm has the baby boomer generation on lock down. Their retention rates are absurdly high (my parents included) for reasons unbeknownst to me.

In short, shop around.

I'm an independent agent, and I cannot figure it out either.
The personal emotions that has gone into insurance, which is a business contract, is baffling.

I prefer Geico and I've been with State Farm before.

They are very simple and best rates that I've personally seen.

Also, all insurances are going up across the board.

I shop every renewal anniversary, both car and homeowners, and Travelers beat all other national companies. Travelers has 12 month rates on cars, whereas all others only offer 6 month rates. Shop Travelers if you haven't before.

Depends on your individual situation. Some companies will give you alumni discounts, for example. You also want to decide if you want to insure the vehicle or just carry liability.

I've have State Farm since getting my license 22 years ago. Shop it every couple years but nobody can beat my rate. I do shop it as package(auto, home, life, etc) so that may be why

Progessive has been very steady with my rates.

They offer a 15-20% discount for paying in full every 6 months as well, which is an added bonus I take advantage of.
