Was curious of any suggestions to invest in for a descent return.
Let's say of about 25-50k.

There is no such thing as a single "best" investment. Depends on how much time you have, how willing you are to take chances, that sort of thing. Tax impacts may come into play also.

Paying Chicken for a name change would probably get you the best bang for your buck.

Passed the community college stage in life.
Interested in making an investment of 25-50k for a decent return.
Also not looking for any OT responses or I would have posted in the OT.
Thanks in advance

An umbrella policy. When people know you have an umbrella policy, they know you have your shite together which pays huge dividends in all aspects of life, including lawsuits.

edit: Seriously though, a few weeks ago there was a guy on here looking for some cash to kick start his business. Maybe you two should talk. Can't remember his name.

Sorry man, you didn't really us information to go on.

What do you consider a decent return? 2%? 5%? 10%? 50%?

Are you willing to work for it (such as a business investment or real estate), or do you want to park in an account and wait for the money to roll in (stocks/bonds)?

you post a "make me rich" question without any information about your situation and you don't expect sarcasm...?

Not to mention using the words "descent return" which by definition means a return that is moving downward or falling

well the SPY is at all time highs, not sure right now is when you wanna start scaling into stocks. If you knew how to sell puts thats fine, I sold more apple $75 puts today great ROI for the amount of margin required but those added to my position from 2-3 weeks ago. Its tough to get into the market right here right now at these levels.

What levels? Adjust p/e? Index levels? 53 week highs? forward earnings? I agree with you, just curious what levels you look at?

The SPY is damn near at 211 right about at its high, go look at a 30 year chart, it doesnt look pretty. There are so many macro factors worldwide: venezuela, china credit, US presidency, Russia, Oil Prices, The real unemployment numbers could be 4x what we're getting. The market is floating on thin air imo, im not bailing im happy with dripping my dividends not looking to incur capital gains but im selling puts to start new positions not just outright buying position. I sold some SPY jan 220 calls today thats a level im comfortable shorting at

I see. I'm an instinct guy to an extent as well. But I've been focused on forward earnings, the real earnings, not the games that have been played the last several years. Demand for industrial commodities. Money supply. Interest rates.

Anyway, I took, in a steady fashion, profits from the run up, and am letting the rest ride. Selectively buying, maybe even trading, some energy stocks. Bought more MMM and CVX, and the timing of these, at least as it appears today, seem to have been guided by some divine energy as I got in at about 52 week lows.

But I bought up silver also. And I've been considering a speculative play such as CLF. Part of a pure speculation on hte election. Some other factors as well.

And gold old ERN, loved by many that made money, hated by sme who never took profits even hit a buy list today.

Strange days. I pay quite a lot of attention to Doc. Fenton, except I actually act. Paralysis by analysis. Doesn't work in golf, doesn't work in business either. He's a genius on here, but I've never seen him post about actually pulling the trigger on something.

Yeah, except I believe there is more than a small bit of truth in what he posts. I can't not like him, he's too much like me.

Let me get this straight you're going to take the advice you get off an internet forum and invest 25-50k into whatever you think the best answer is?
