This is easily the best sky miles deal I've ever seen. Sign up, make a purchase (even a de minimis amount, which is what differentiates it from other cards) or transfer a balance, pay the annual fee, and you get 50k miles.

For anyone who has used this card, when does the annual fee become payable? As soon as you receive the card?

Get it... then close it. Because it's going by the wayside.

I just got it last month and my wife got hers a week ago. Go buy something real quick, anything, then go online and pay off the purchase and the $89 and boom. Points were in my account with the quickness. I will be dropping the card after a few months as I already have the American Airlines MC as well.

I'm transferring a small balance from an existing card which I think qualifies as a purchase. Does the annual fee appear within your existing balance or what? I want to pay it ASAP so I can use the points for a flight but don't see an option to pay the annual fee yet.

ETA: I just opened the account today.

You don't have the card yet? Once I got the card I connected my bank account with it and paid the $89 and my purchase. Can't remember if the 89 was showing yet or not, but I just paid it.

No, it doesn't. You have to make an actual purchase. Read the TOS.

From the TOS:

quote:

Bonus Dividend Miles: Fifty thousand (50,000) bonus miles will be awarded in the first billing cycle in which you have made a purchase or balance transfer (that is not later returned or rescinded) and your Annual Fee has been paid if applicable. There is a fee for Balance Transfers.

I have always been a cash back/points guy, does the 50k miles equal out to $500 toward a flight or is the conversion different? I need to book two tickets to Europe in the next month or so.

For context, roundtrip to Paris from a small, non-international airport in the US in the peak of summer is about 60k miles, so the 50k is significant, especially since you get it for about 90 bucks.

Do I have time to do this before the Q2 rewards program merger? I already have the American CC, but another 50,000 miles would be the tits.

I did it today but haven't received my miles yet. Should be 7-10 days so I think you have time if you're booking a flight soon.

I booked first class to Italy using miles. It cost me 120k miles for two tickets to Venice. The cost of those tickets if I purchased them would have been over $7000 each. If you spend your miles wisely you can get tremendous value from them.

Out of curiosity, can you define "with a quickness"? I have a trip coming up in late March and curious if these points will be credited in time. I just received my card yesterday and made my first purchase today.

You get the miles once you make a purchase AND pay the annual fee.

Depends on when your statement closes. I'll tell you how to get it the fastest way in the clearest way that maybe didn't come across in earlier posts.

Apply for card.
Receive card
Purchase anything, for example $5 of milk or something the day you receive it.

Now go to your Checking Account bill pay. Add the US Airways account.

Send $94 to pay the card ($5 + $89 fee) even if the $89 hasn't posted. Just do it, it will post soon enough.

The card will settle at $0 balance.

When the statement closes, 50,000 miles will post to your account.

As for how much longer you have to take advantage of this deal, the consensus is you may apply until March 31, and then the card will no longer be offered.

Have fun.

Can you explain how you did this?
