Rivals

He was a 4-star, Rivals 250 - back when Rivals meant something.

I just cannot get over the continued obsession with this kid. Yes, we HAVE had MLB players come back to LSU. But the odds of this are ridiculously high. Please stop

I feel like we'll still be seeing these threads when the guy is 40.

His tie in to LSU was Les Miles. Even if he did return to football, it's not even likely anymore that he would come to LSU. When Miles was still here, sure. Now, not so much. And there's no indication that our current coaches would recruit him.

Let's see...we can recruit a 4 star pocket passer, and a 4 star dual threat quarterback who have been playing ball continuously for the past several years. Or, we can recruit a 4 star quarterback who hasn't been on a field in seven seasons.

Let. It. Go.

Zack Lee was an outstanding prospect and would have been great.

Are we sure about this? I thought the last time this thread came out it was shown that his clock did start

247 has a 3* composite, which is the best metric to use IMO

Never enrolled full-time (which starts clock) and signed with Dodgers before start of Fall Semester.

NCAA Div I Rule

12.8.1.1 Determining the Start of the Five-Year Period. For purposes of starting the count of time under the five-year rule, a student-athlete shall be considered registered at a collegiate institution (domestic or foreign; see Bylaw 14.02.5) when the student-athlete initially registers in a regular term (semester or quarter) of an academic year for a minimum full-time program of studies, as determined by the institution, and attends the student’s first day of classes for that term (see Bylaw 12.8.2). (Revised: 7/31/14)

Lee is taking classes part-time, rather than being enrolled as a full-time student, an important distinction. As long as Lee is a part-time student, he can continue to negotiate with the Dodgers up until the Aug. 16 deadline.

If he's still eligible then his physical window is closing. Wonder how much longer he gives to baseball if he feels he might have any kind of shot at the NFL.

Just a thought

1) He could very well be on a major league roster in 2017
2) He posted a very impressive 2015 in the PCL where hitters numbers are crazy inflated, its not like he hasn't done anything lately

Zach Lee won't be out of baseball anytime soon.

I didn't believe he was a first round pick so I looked it up. The Browns took Trent Richardson 3rd overall, and Weeden 22nd overall in 2012. Then they took Johnny Manziel 22nd overall two years later.

My God what an awful organization.

His baseball notoriety and our complete lack of talent at QB has overrated him as a prospect over the years. His legend has grown to program savior, when in reality he was likely just another decent QB prospect that would have never amounted to much under Miles.

I always doubted how effective he could have been full time at both and since he was a much more promising baseball prospect I expected baseball would eventually win out as far where he'd choose to dedicate most of his focus

Someone will take a chance on him if he shows interest but I hope it's not LSU. That ship sailed. If not, I hopefully he had good financial advice about investing that bonus cash.

Why not? What's the worst thing that could happen? Lose a scholarship. In turn, possibly have a decent QB.....I'd take that chance.
