Calipari was incredibly pissed he didn't get Javonte Smart, and they lost the SEC. He is the rat. If you don't think UK basketball has that kind of stroke, you are kidding yourself.

I saw someone in another thread say that there’s honor among thieves so Calipari wouldn’t do that, and I get his point, but I definitely think Calipari would go there. He knows he’s immune to any scrutiny as the coach of a blue blood and LSU/Wade is a serious threat to his future success. He very well could’ve cut Wade off at the knees to save himself some serious trouble in the future with the juggernaut Wade is building.

This only came up bc the FBI wiretapped Dawkins. This investigation had nothing to do with LSU. Wade just happened to be on the other end of the phone.

Wait? Calipari got the FBI to investigate and wiretap Dawkins. So Dawkins could call Wade as a witness for the defense and release the recording?
I have no problem believing Cal is a snake and upset he lost Smart and that he would try and plant bad stuff to the press about Wade. That’s plausible and believable.
But even if Cal did badmouth Wade there is no story if the FBI didn’t wiretap Dawkins and if Wade wasn’t caught on the tape. That’s not Cal.
Come on.

Is UK not sucked up into this entire mess? If Wade has any information on Cal and UK, do you think he doesn't have all the incentive in the world to sing like a canary now?

I believe it is possible that Cal has friends in media that could have been "encouraged" to leak the news as LSU was prime for a run.
The timing of the dump was impeccable. If LSU doesn't win the SEC and sit staring at a possible #2 or #1 seed you would be like me and everyone else, not knowing a thing about it.
Pat Forde was some kind of pissed last night watching LSU win another overtime game while celebrating.
Called makes that call, "Dump it. Bury this new blood, and sensationalize the shite out of it even without proof. I'll call some other media guys and get them to pile on and put the pressure on and hopefully LSU administration folds".

Nah. Kentucky is mentioned in Dawkins' emails. Calipari knows it's only a matter of time before it's Kentucky's turn to come under the microscope.

Cal saw Smart was leaning LSU and put the squeeze on Dawkins. This is big time sleaze ball college basketball recruiting stuff - it is a cesspool (way worse than Washington DC).
