You can’t be a good coach and use the CEO model

The CEO model inherently admits that you are so limited you need other people to do the heavy lifting.

It should be reserved for long term beloved figure heads. Like Joe Pa (pre scandal) and Bobby Bowden. Guys universally loved to the point where you are willing to carry them in exchange for just having them in the room.

Edit: to clarify, this isn’t saying a team can’t have great success under the model. But it’s going to require your OC and DC to be great coaches. I dont think you can call yourself a great coach if you delegate all your Xs and Os.

I disagree. I think it should be modified to say "You can't use the CEO model and not be a good coach"

As in, if your not coordinator material (and a good one at that), you're not HC material.

I disagree. Many, many, many great leaders of organizations hire the best people available and let them do their jobs while simply managing or overseeing.

CEO model works provided you have a capable CEO that has a clear vision. O lacks the skills and intelligence to be a good CEO. The plan seems to be there is no plan

You don't have to be a good tactician to be a good manager. Conversely, being a great tactician does not mean you will be a good manager.

The CEO type head coach can (and many times has) work. Whether or not Orgeron succeeds in this coaching style is neither an endorsement of nor a mark against this style of coaching.

I think Dabo is way more involved in the offense than people give him credit for

And way more than O.

Dabo for some reason gets pumped in because Chad Morris got all the credit, but that offense has continued to flourish with their old RB and WR coach as Co-Coordinators. 2 guys who have coached almost their entire careers at Clemson.

You just can't top the hate. You need to go on a vacation from this board until the season starts. will know fairly quickly if this will work or not. Does it make you feel better to assume O is going to fail?

I am Not assuming O is going to fail

But the #1 strength of this team is going to be the defense and we paid Dave Aranda how much?

If the defense is good, it’s going to be because Dave Aranda is a good coach. So what did O do?

So O has the amazing ability to keep a guy on staff with enormous pay increases?

That’s pretty impressive.

Like if he just stayed out loyalty sure

We paid the man 2.5 million dollars.

So, do you know this based on your vast experience in and knowledge of football, or other management situations? Do you have ample evidence and analysis to back your opinion?

Or, are you just a whiny bitch spewing out whatever flits through your head?

And what would you say about O if he let Aranda get away?

there are many paths to success. not every man can have every skill needed.

bobby petrino - great offensive coach. but he lacks recruiting skills and ability to get the people in to run a great defense. just one example.

a man has to know what his strengths are, and in the words of Clint Eastwood - "a man's just got to know his limitations." and he must compensate for his deficiencies.

even the mighty saban is dependent on many, many others for his success.

Which isn't that much money for an SEC head coach.

I am Not saying it doesn’t work...

But I am saying if I am Good at my job I dont Need other people to do it.

Delegwtignisnt coaching and this isn’t a Fortune 500 company.

Name me like 1 coach who has as little to do with the Xs and Os as O who had any kind of success.
