I'm not sure what side of the argument you are on, but here's an example with your numbers. I'll base it on 1000 recruits and 100 draft slots, so 10% of the recruit population gets drafted.

2*: 578 recruits, 18.5 drafted 3.20%
3*: 329 recruits, 35.7 drafted 10.85%
4*: 77 recruits, 28.7 drafted 37.27%
5*: 16 recruits, 6.8 drafted 42.50%

A 5* recruit has 4.25 times greater chance at being drafted than average. Interesting that 3* recruit is pretty close to average chance of getting drafted.

And for what will possibly be the most downvoted post in history, I'll point out that the guy responsible for that is no longer employed at LSU.

I hope you realize why, since you are reading this thread.

You're right, I read it initially as 6.8% of that 16 get drafted, my mistake.

The Bama bump that we see year in and year out in recruiting does not translate the the NFL. Just proves that old Les did less with more. And it finally caught up with him.

Hmmmm. Well, I would say that is eye opening, except for the fact that those numbers are based upon their percentage as a total of all player in the draft. Since there are 30ish 5 stars each year, 250 ish 4 stars, and 750 ish 3 stars, your numbers actually show that what I said is 100% accurate, and that you don't know how to look at data.

LSU players are showing out in the NFL. OBJ, Debo Jones, PP7, TM7, Spencer Ware, Jeremy Hill just to name a few and we still have Baton Rouge kids that want to go ride the pine at a rival. Makes no sense.

The new Chargers tip the scale a little in the bad guys' favor.

So that's what we are going with now? Bama only has highly rated classes because of the Bama bump? Is that why they've been to 3 straight CFB playoffs? You guys kill me sometimes.

And here's a little secret....there are many LSU recruits who have gotten a bump once offered by LSU or after committing to LSU as well.

This has been the case for at least the past two seasons and after this year's draft I am sure LSU will be at the top next year.

Lol man, I already admitted that I misread the chart, but you're right that 5% more likely that a 5* gets drafted over a 4* is staggering.

Seriously? Did you not click the link and see that LSU has the most active players in the NFL?

Check the last few drafts.
Also, using just nfl talent is ridiculous.
Tim Tebow and Johnny Manziel dont count towards their program's nfl players yet they are 2 of the the most productive players in sec history.

So you base your theory on one draft class? J

2 and about to be 3.
right now bama has 4 players out of their front 7 with 1st round grades and thats just the front 7.

Recruiting sites actually do a great job with picking which recruits get 5 star ratings. 49% of all 5 stars will get drafted by the nfl.
Approximately 1500 recruits get signed every year. Recruiting sites pick 30-35 players out of those 1500 and hit on 49% of them. Thats outstanding.

Not only are you bad at data, you're horrible at extrapolating stats too. Your above statement is not close to accurate.

Step 1) Post this link To SEC rant
Step 2) Watch them squeal and just end the argument by saying something like "L6U" or "21-0"

I wrote a routine that data mines the nfl team rosters on nfl.com. It runs once per hour and compiles a list of all former SEC players.

The current number of NFL players from each SEC team are:

WTF? nfl.com has La'el Collins listed as:

71 Collins, La'el OG RES 6'4" 321 7/26/1993 2 Louisiana State University - Shreveport

I didn't get the memo when La'el transferred or when LSUS got a football team.
