Would you be pleased with 8-4 or 7-5 if one of the 7 or 8 was Alabama?

For this team, I say YES!
A lower tier bowl invitation would be somewhat disappointing, but beating the Tide would offset that in my opinion. Plus it would help maintain our national credibility with recruits by beating the top program of the last few years.
Let the young talent play their way to experience by November and we may be much better by then. Odd-numbered years are our schedule-favorable ones to make a conference championship run anyway.

We could finish 4-8 if the only other win we got is Bama. I have to live with them so beating them is more than anything else.

Yes I would. We aren't winning the west this year, but a win over bama would be huge for the program. Bama has dominated us since 1/9 and that really needs to end.

I always enjoy beating Alabama, but I'd be pretty dissappointed if we lose to MSU, AU, UF, aTm, and AR... Which is what your scenario would essentially mean.
Remember 2007? We lost to UNRANKED UK, and Unranked (I think) AR... but won the National Championship.
I think we can go 9-3, but 8-4 is more likely. 7-5 would be disappointing to me.
