I remember when LSU played UNC in the Superdome. I think this was post Shaq, it was pretty fricking awesome though.

I'd like for them to figure out a way to get the seats closer to the court though.

Especially the student section. I know students, as well as other fans, have been disinterested the last few years, but it doesn't take much to re-energize the fan base and get people back in the PMAC. Students need to be close to the court. 03-07 were great years in the student section.

I always kinda wished the PMAC looked like a bigger version of the cow palace. It's really not an aesthetically pleasing building

It looks pretty sharp, for a space ship.

If LSU ever demolishes the PMAC to build a new arena they'll play home games at the River Center until it's built.

All I want is a rectangular arena not circular like the PMAC. The seats would be much closer and it looks better.

First thing on my wish list is a new video board. The one we have is so old and outdated.

Put a new arena where the PMAC is now. Play at River Center during construction. The PMAC is ugly as hell and lacks suites, club seating that are $$ makers.

Why don't we start filling it up first before we start talking suites, etc.

The PMAC isn't perfect but it's not our programs biggest problem

You are missing one important point and that is the River Center is used for a lot of other things besides basketball. Scheduling would be a nightmare and you are also dealing with City/Parish Government. In addition, a new arena would require some stats funds and I don't believe there is an appetite for that now at the state capitol

LSU plays one or two home games a week for 3 months. There's not THAT much at the arena.

The 8 month long bowling tournament's been over for a while now.

River Center holds 10,400, according to wikipedia.

Would be plenty big enough.

Not for Gymnastics!

building a new venue will certainly not magically make the atmosphere any better.

Not the time to build a new stadium, plenty big enough, in the right place and structure is fine.

A total interior remodel may be in the future depending on cost.

Agree, gut it and shrink it down to 10k seats with suites and make the incline steeper so you're more on top of the court, you could keep the same shell of the building

Rivercenter would work fine as temp home

It would be nice if the Pmac was right next to the baseball stadium. Would be a good place for some new bars as well as a line of restaurants.

Suites? I can see the line of big donors lining up now to drop a bunch of cash to see our basketball team.

The building is fine...needs a total remodel inside.

The PMAC is actually regarded by some smart people as an architecturally significant structure. In 1972 it was considered revolutionary. It's also probably the most recognizable arena (from the outside) in the SEC. I want to keep it right where it is.

One of the problems (to me) has been those doors that open and close between the concourse and the arena. They are way outdated and a PITA. But I understand why they put them there..... To keep the arena dark (and a dark seating area is one of the unique elements of the PMAC). I agree a total gut of the interior would be a good idea, but that is something for down the road once we get all this other shite paid for.

How is it a POS? And furthermore, how would anybody know since there's hardly anybody going to the games? Other than the geek section we call student section, who goes to the game consistently enough to complain about the PMAC?

I'm an average size person (5'11) and I have no leg room at all in my seats. Not sure if that is common for everyone else or what, but that's gotta be remedied. They also need to have some premium seating options - whether that be suites, courtside or both. The PMAC is in a shitty state right now, but it's not hopeless.
