It is sad when your baseball team has more suites than your basketball team. Basketball is the #2 money maker. People who say no investment is needed are clueless. College sports is an arms race. The facility does matter when it comes to recruiting. It also matters when it comes to corporate support. Suites and premium seating provides teams with revenue to have bigger recruiting budgets and to pay more to retain their coaches.

how do you incorporate suites into the PMAC? I'm fully on board for suites, but i think the amount of money it would cost to do it...you might as well start from scratch.

Yeah - I'm anti a $100M project. If I alluded to that above, than I apologize.

No problem, I was just going off of Auburn's new $86 million dollar, 10,000 seat arena as the cost to actually replace the PMAC.

I remember sitting in the Tad Pad to watch a game while it was raining, and the roof leaked. That place needed replacing.

I think the atmosphere went to shite when the student section got moved to the baseline on one side, with very few seats actually close to the court. The place was rockin back before LSU put in the high dollar, single row of courtside seats that are 10 yards away from any other seat behind them. Put the student section back at midcourt right behind where the announcers sit and the students will return and start to get raucous in the PMAC again.

If a future decision is made to renovate the PMAC or to pursue a new basketball facility, I would hope the TAF could greatly assist in this effort.

the arena doesn't matter. Start winning and the place will be full and loud and we'll love it again.

If he wins a national championship, maybe. Besides, if we ever have any aspirations of adding an upper deck to the north end zone of Tiger Stadium, we'll have to, because there's not room right now with the PMAC right there.

Maybe you could take out the top several rows of seats on one or both sides. It would cut total capacity, but that's not really an issue anyway. I have no idea whether that's even architecturally possible, though. Not sure where they would put the private access, and suite holders probably wouldn't want to have to mingle with the commoners while climbing stairs to the top to reach their suites.

Leave the PMAC for all sports except MBB. Build a new, state-of-the-art arena just to the east of Nicholson Drive. Don't make the capacity smaller, though, as we can sell 13K tickets to support a good program. Heck, we sold 13K tickets several times last season for a bad program with one star.

We need to remodel the interior and make the seating steeper. The seats go way too far back. And please for the love of god move the student section. It's aids. And if you can't move that then at least move the god damn media section somewhere else

Agreed...upgrade the exterior of PMAC so that the architecture works with TS & the LSU campus in general. It probably can't be updated to include suites without significantly impacting seating capacity. Maybe we should average 10k+ actual before talking about building something new. If/when that time comes, that would be a good problem.

The PMAC was renovated in 2005. They put in the purple seats, removed a few seats, a new video screen, new roof.. That's 12 years ago but not really that long ago in terms of how renovation projects are. LSU is probably a long way away from changing anything about the PMAC structurally.. inside or out.

The inside configuration of the PMAC is garbage. Seats too far from the court. Press row is in a retarded spot. Stupid to have tables set up on both sidelines. Student section retractable bleachers take up too much room.

Yeah the current setup absolutely is garbage. In my last year there the student section was much closer. The front row of it was directly behind the second row of press tables.

I sat in that front row for most of the games in Chris Jackson's freshman year, and was there on the night that the configuration was doomed. UF, with the big ugly Dwayne Schintzius (RIP), who had previously been accused of assaulting a guy with a tennis racket, leading to tennis balls being thrown by opposing students at away games. LSU officials did say ahead of the game that that wouldn't be tolerated. The Gators won and won the SEC as a result, right there on our court. It was a tight game that got HEATED at the end. Gator players were taunting the student section (I know, what a shock) once the outcome was no longer in doubt, led by Schintzius. And of course we responded in kind. Well add to the equation tennis balls finally being tossed onto the court, and that was all she wrote.

The reaction by the Athletic Department was absurd. Total overreaction. Starting the very next season the student section seats were moved back and a disabled seating area was inserted between the students and the second media row. I actually did go to a couple of December games in 89-90 season and it was awful. Totally different. Horrible knee-jerk solution that screwed the students and help rob the PMAC of a certain degree of intensity in the environment by moving them further away from the court.

It may look silly for some building built in the 70's, but I think we are fortunate that the PMAC aged somewhat well in style. I'm reminded of this thought everyday I drive to work this POS septic tank that host UT BB:

Everything about the 1970s was ugly. Just look at the Superdomw as well.
