The LSU fans obsessed with him are lame.

Year 1, NIT
Year 2, (his best) 15-2 in SEC, won the SEC and Sweet 16.
Goes downhill from here
Year 3, 12-6 SEC, season canceled due to Covid.
Year 4, 11-6 SEC round of 32
Year 5, 9-9 SEC round of 64

He cheated and still couldn’t do better than this.
He’s a very meh, average coach.

4 straight years in the tourney and a sweet 16 berth? And yes we were tourney bound the Covid year.
When was the last time in LSU history we made 4 straight tourney?

Sweet 16, Round of 32, Round of 64, NIT, and a projected 8 seed during COVID year is NOT mediocre for LSU- a pretty average program. It is very good and only maybe 10 current coaches could do better here.

Your post is very disingenuous.

Before Year 1 he takes over a losing basketball team.

Year 3 LSU is easily in the tournament.

Year 5 the LSU administration caves and LSU loses Wade before the tournament.

Heading into Year 6 LSU probably had a top 5-10 basketball team in the country.

He was still better than whatever this is with McMahon though, but I also never believed we'd be anywhere beyond maxing out as a sweet 16 type team with him at the helm. But this is LSU basketball and that would make him one of the more successful coaches here if that trend were to continue.

With that said, people on here would suck his dick because he had some success here and on top of that, he essentially told the NCAA to frick off so people view him as some kind of counter-cultural patriot, which is... odd.

In reality, he tried to cheat like the blue bloods and was hella sloppy in doing so.

Amen, the obsession with Wade by some of the so-called fans is similar to Jim Jones , Don't Drink the Kool-aid

Lol do you see what we have on the court now ? We were 2 for 22 on three’s tonight. You must be kin to Matt McMahon or a friend. He and Woody has set this program back so bad. It will be years before we even sniff a tournament. WW had this program competing every time on the court. Did you see that tonight?

With the exception of a final four run in 2006, that was your best stretch of basketball since Dale Brown.

You’re the reason LSU fans get made fun of and the program sucks.

Brah he was like 38. We probably had our coach for the next 30 years. I think it's reasonable to think he would have improved as a coach as timd went on

Something anti Wade bitches always dodge.

Baylor's coach didn't win fricking shite til age 48 or 50. He got better, why isn't Wade allowed to get better with time.

Same reason, why is it okay for Brian Kelly to have all this time and get better and improve at 62 but Wade can't at 38

Using his wife's checks to pay players doesn't exactly scream stability to me.

Besides, if Wade were to really start putting the rest of the basketball world on notice a college that supports the sport more than LSU does would've poached him at some point.

What is your definition of "Mediocre"?
Make the tourney every year?
Taking a program that was "dead" and in his second year, won the SEC
At one period in LSU basketball history, Making the Tourney was the goal.
Wade made it look so easy, you whiners raised the Bar. He could make the tourney but he couldn't coach, street ball.

How would you describe Mac?
Where is the Bar set now.
Put five players on the court?
Win Five SEC games?
What is the goal?

Dale Brown 10 straight times. 13 in 15 seasons. He would have gone 11 straight and 14 of 15 seasons if the tournament had been 64 teams in 82-83. Both ends of his career were wastelands though. The first 6 years and the last 4 were no postseason at all.

John Brady got screwed in 2003-2004. Alabama went as an at large with a worse record and having lost twice to LSU. That would have been 4 in a row.
