FWIW, I saw a good bit of Les Miles influence last year the more the year progressed (cough, toss G, cough). I would comment on it last year.

2013 Year in Review on the Rant

*Mett throws a pass*

Rant - Whoo! The Cam sure does know how to coach!

*LSU runs the ball*

yes

Will Miles continue to run at those 9 or 10?

yes

let me add this,

will Cameron attack the likely one on one match ups that MSU will give our receivers?

yes

will it work?

yes

Will this score points for LSU?

yes

Will cameron adjust the offense to attack MSUs weaknesses?

yes

will LSU win?

I think so.

Personally I think that it comes down to our QB play. I think it's stupid that people think we are just going to lineup in an I formation and just run it at MSU. Did you not watch the second half to the Wisconsin game? how about the Sam Houston Game? I don't think you should say that because ULM stopped us in the first half than MSU is going to dominate us. I honestly think Miles was trying to give his o-line confidence, we are still going to lean on running at people, with our huge line. We need to lean on the run, Jennings is good but not good enough to run the offense.

It's called setting up the play action.

No, Miles & Cam NEVER EVER go deep off the play action. Not even happened this year- attempts or successfully executed attempts. Never heard of a guy named Dural.

It is all about our O-Line this year. We go how they go. I seem to remember the rant giving the Heisman to all of our running backs preseason, now we don't want to run? Cam will press our advantage where ever it is. If that means punch them in the mouth with the run all night, I like it! Also, if they load the box, GREAT!!!!! We can and will go over the top. AJ has been hitting receivers when he has had time. Our boys have dropped some balls on him.

he can also make time. I think AJ may have been limited to run in the first few weeks. He could make some plays with his feet. He is a JJ who can actually throw the ball well

This is why I wish we would use the 3 wide shotgun spread as our base offense. You have to cover the 3 receivers so the most you can have in the box is 8. And thats only if you want man on man coverage on every receiver. Most teams dont and drop at least one safety out the box...either way you get more running lanes and ability to get to the second level as well as more passing options. It just makes more sense.....an eye formation one wide set really provides no advantages for the offense other than maybe short yardage situations. Being able to double the one receiver and still have 9 in the box just makes it so difficult to run. It becomes just a scrum of humanity. But unfortunately we will see this formation all too often.

I thought we had all agreed to never say his name again?!

I agree that the shotgun 3 wiede base does provide advantages for our skill set. Again, I have faith in Cam. He "put our guys in a position to achieve victory"

If you have mismatches and only have 10 receptions a game then if I'm the defense I like my odds. LSU will not throw it. They will not break out some crazy playbook. Get used to it. That's what this season will be. Teams will load the box and we will run at them. We will hope that it wears them down for the 4th qtr.
This person actually understands the identity of this team. Everyone else is wishing on a star if you think it's going to be a wide open offense like 2013. Young QB, young WRs does not lend its hand to passing the ball all over the field. If you've noticed, most of the passes have been outside the numbers. This eliminate the LBs and Safeties on the opposing team from making interceptions. Most are asking for TE involvement, but they usually catch passes in the middle of the field, and LSU will not throw there very much, if at all. The identity of this team is running game, defense, special teams, and the occasional pass outside the numbers.

Man, I hope you're right! Run, run, run may give Moo State a chance. We will have to be efficient in the pass game and I believe Jennings can do it ...

LSU will be throwing the ball some in the first half. The coaches would be stupid to not take advantage of MSU's secondary.

Does the manner in which a team win matter? Didn't the Super Bowl champs have a young QB, who managed the game? A solid defensive and special teams unit? Oh, and a damn good running game.
What happened to the team with the QB who threw the ball all over the field?
People, this is not a glamour show. Coaches understand the personnel on the team much better than some posters on the Rant. You play to your strengths and the strength of this team is running the ball, and playing sound defense with an occasional pass outside the numbers.

you didn't read the rest of my phrase? I put Jennings far above JJ. JJ sucked because he couldn't throw the ball, he had good running skill, but he never used it. Jennings is a running QB who can throw the ball well. He is pass first (like JJ) who can actually throw it well.

I am not arguing to throw it for the sake of throwing it. I am saying that MSU is built to stop the run. LSU WILL throw the ball some in the first half, probably something like 50-50. If LSU gets ahead by a couple of touchdowns, we might then see 3-1 run to pass ratio for the rest of the game.
