Yes MSU will put 9-10 in the box, yes LSU will run right into it.

That said, that will leave Travin Dural one on one. If we can't take advantage of that match up, it might be a long game.

I love the power rushing offense LSU runs, but for gods sake, make the defense pay dearly for stacking the box.

i think it is funny you count the QB in some pics and not in others, to dictate your point.

Well sometimes you have to run against a stacked box. There's a high reward factor there.

This guy gets it! If you can get the edge or if one of our guys gets to that second level, I like our backs in the open field or 1v1 on a linebacker/safety.

say yes. Will Miles continue to run at those 9 or 10? yes. I am prepared for an ugly game on offense just hope the defense can keep MSU to a low point total and we can hit a few passes. LSU 17-14.

You do realize 11 defenders play on the field, right? Do you realize how friggin stupid it is to think that 9 or 10 defenders will be in the box? You, and anyone else that thinks this, are a moron. Teams dont run goal line defenses in the middle of the field, jackass

Yes and Miles will continue to try to run the ball against the stacked up defense

In short yardage plays, yes

This is why I wish we would use the 3 wide shotgun spread as our base offense. You have to cover the 3 receivers so the most you can have in the box is 8. And thats only if you want man on man coverage on every receiver. Most teams dont and drop at least one safety out the box...either way you get more running lanes and ability to get to the second level as well as more passing options. It just makes more sense.....an eye formation one wide set really provides no advantages for the offense other than maybe short yardage situations. Being able to double the one receiver and still have 9 in the box just makes it so difficult to run. It becomes just a scrum of humanity. But unfortunately we will see this formation all too often

The prediction is they will throw 8 or 9 in the box and dare LSU to throw, which, if the Tigers execute, they could expose what is clearly the Bulldogs greatest weakness; a slow(By SEC standards) inexperienced secondary. There DB's are no match for Dural, Quinn, Diarse and Dupre. On the flip side, the Tiger secondary may be the fastest group in the SEC.

Of course not. No one does that unless the offense lines up in a short yardage formation with 10 guys on the line and in the backfield.

When LSU lines up in a base formation with one TE, two RBs, and two receivers, Ms State will do what everyone does, They'll line up with seven in the box, and they'll tease us with a safety. At first they'll probably back that safety out and see if they can stop us with their base seven and a late arriving safety. If they can't, they'll start firing that safety at the box on the snap of the ball. In either event, they'll be lined up with seven in the box, just like Wiscy.

When LSU sends out a WR and brings in a second TE, they will add a guy in the box and play with one safety. Contrary to what some on here post, this does not increase congestion in the running game. The only congestion that matters is at the point of attack, and that stays about constant, in that it depends on what they do with the safety (in the first case with the second safety, and in the second case with the only safety).

The advantage or disadvantage in the running game doesn't depend on one TE or two, it depends on which formation gives the offense the personnel advantage. If we can add a great blocking TE and they have to counter by taking an All SEC safety out and putting in a backup linebacker, we probably gained an advantage.

Until we throw a tight end drag for about 17 yards or a post to Quinn for 25yards.

He calls the bad ones, or at least that's what I've come to learn on the Rant.

He does have veto power on all calls and makes suggestions of run or pass based on down and distance. I don't think he says "run the toss dive" but rather "let run here to pick up the first down." Or "the CBs are playing soft zone, how about we pass it here."

msu will load up the box. we need LF to break long runs against this. that is basically what Williams did sat. but for a shorter td. if you get past the first 5 yds. then you got a shot at a long run td. see hill last year.

Are you serious about 10 in the box? It's like some of you don't know anything at all about football. The most they will have is 9 and that's only going to happen when LSU lines up with 2 TEs and 1 WR. They will have a safety over the top of Dural for the entire game.
