I'm not sure a LSU fan would forget the effort put forth in a 21 pt 4th quarter rally to beat UH 35-34.

Not to mention perhaps one of the finest displays a LSU RB ever put on...Kevin Faulk.

Just because I 'm dickbag doesn't mean I'm ungrateful or wrong about DiNardo.
I don't see a landslide of support for the proposal to "honor" him on this thread.
What part of his 6- 15 record makes you especially grateful, Project? I just don't remember a lot of pleasure associated with him once he had his own players on the field.

LSU fans remember DiNardo's last game, a 20-7 loss to Houston . AT HOME.
And his 0-7 SEC record that year, 14 losses out of last 15 SEC games.
AND let's be grateful for the off the field issues;
Co capt. Larry robinson's theft charges;
The phone scam involving two players;
Clarence Le blanc's agent;
Mark Roman, ditto;
Kevin Falk's acknowledgment of cash payments;
Tank Black/ Menard offering 30,000 to get Booger mcFarland signed to an agent deal

Can you provide links to any or all of this?

It's a good thing Saban never lost to an inferior opponent at home or had players get arrested or have to be dismissed for disciplinary reasons.

I can provide a source: SI article on Didardo's firing which would have been 11/15 or 11/ 16/ 99.
It reviewed all the scandals in addition to DiNardo having lost control of the players ON the field.
Which of those incidents are you most grateful for, Project?

No doubt Joe had his problems, but I'm not sure he got to decide by himself how much a football coach at LSU was going to be paid

The AD makes the hires and negotiates the contracts. I'm sure there is some oversight, but I don't think the board is going to step in and say, hey Joe, don't you think we should offer more? Dean was notriously cheap, the AD was in the black, so from his perspective that was most important,

quote:

Maybe the very best thing to happen to LSU football was ME being hired. Mark understood the impact a successful football program could have on all avenues of the school

That's because ME realized what Dean did not. That while the AD may have been in the black, by having a 2nd rate FB team at a place like LSU, we were leaving tons of money on the table. It's being penny wise and pound foolish.

Dean wanted to lowball Saban and Emmert told him not too and to accept Saban and Sexton's offer. I realize Dean did not make decisions in a vaccuum and had people to answer to. However, is the board really going to reject a contract because it was too low when the AD is in the black? Hell, Dean wanted to give DiNardo another year.

Joe Dean and his penny pinching + lack of vision is the biggest reason LSU football got into the state it did.

Larry Porter, not Robinson.
Robinson didn't steal purses.

You haven't provided shite, you dolt. Where is a link to the article?

If the Kevin Faulk thing is accurate, I'm definitely grateful for that one.

Also, the guys name was Larry Foster, you insufferable douche. Not Larry Robinson. You'd think with all your detailed knowledge of LSU's program, you wouldn't forget an All-SEC wide receiver's name.

It is funny though, because you mention all these supposed scandals from an SI article, but I've never heard of Kevin Faulk ever admitting to taking cash payments, or anything you listed other than Larry Foster being arrested.

ETA: And Larry Porter was a running back coach, not an LSU player. Stop being so fricking dumb.

Yes, Project.
You've never heard of mant things because you've exhausted your limited knowledge of the subject.
You want links from me but rely on your selective memory as a reliable universe of knowledge.
That's usually referred to as aggressive ignorance, Project.

Says the guy who failed twice to name a former All-SEC wide receiver correctly.

I want links because I want you to prove you aren't peddling bullshite.

Asking for evidence of your claim is aggressively not wanting to learn something?

You really might be retarded.

I've never heard that about Faulk either and was going to ask for links but someone else did first.

Again, no one is saying build a satatue or hang a banner with his name on it. But to bring him back to be introduced at a game and rec polite applause is no big deal.

Actually, his obstinance on this subject has pushed me from wanting to people to acknowledge Dinardo's contribution, to wanting the stadium renamed in his honor.

With a commemorative statue of Larry Foster running through the quad with a purse in his hands.

HTown,
I cannot link on this device, but located the article by simply googling DiNardo LSU. It is SI 11/16, as indicated.
Menard pled guilty to the bribery charges, including cash to the Faulks in 2002. SI claimed it was directly to KF.
By November 1999 LSU agent stories were commonplace. DiNardo had lost all semblance of control and had to go before he further damaged the program.

are you kidding me at the time lou tepper was the best thing to happen to this program. if dinardo wasn't so stubborn and would have fired him we may never had a chance to hire saban.
