Will 11/7 be 1982 all over again?

1982 was the most satisfying victory ever against Bama. We were 7-0-1, our best start to the season in years with an amazing running game lead by "the Dalton - James Gang", and an opportunistic QB, Alan Risher, yet still underdogs by 7 points at their place. Bama was riding a 11 game winning streak against LSU, were 8th rated, a 7-1 record with what was up to that game viewed as the best Defense in College Football coached by Paul Bear Bryant in what became his last year of coaching. They spewed an air of invincibility over several years that was sickening.
Leading to 11/7/2015, Bama has a 4 game winning streak against us, are ranked 7th, a 7-1 record, a supposed suffocating Defense that leads the nation against the run, and with the same arrogance of entitled championships. LSU is 7-0, has the best running game lead by Fournette, an opportunistic QB in Harris, playing at Bama as a 6 point dog.
In 1982, we "beat them like a drum" (as Paul Bear Bryant proclaimed after the game), winning 20-10 in a game that really was not even that close. It was LSU's D that was stifling, giving up 1 1st down in the 1st half, and something like 128 yards total for the game. Remember it like yesterday. The most satisfying, joyful experience watching a football game and Bama fans in disbelief crying their way back home.
This game on 11/7/2015 just feel eerily similar. Geaux Tigers!

My Dad, Mom and Guava Jellys Dad and Mom were there, they still talk about that game every year saying how great it was. I found the highlights once on youtube but have been taken down.

We may not be as dominant, but we could blow it open and win by 14.

Hopefully we don't lose to Tulane again

I was at that game. One of my favorites of all time. Almost got in several fights that night.

Nothing would give me more pleasure than to beat Alabama like a red headed step child and have old Nikki contemplate retirement!

Great win, and thanks for posting about the 1982 game because it was before my time and I had no idea how big that game was.
However, you don't have to go back that to '82 (although Uncle Rico wouldn't mind) to find a game that will be similar to what will happen on 11/7. You only need to go back to 2011. It will be a low scoring, edge rushing, highly competitive game that LSU will claim late in the game.

I've been thinking about that game all week also. That game was not televised on a network like the Bama game usually was then (usually an ABC afternoon game) so we watched it on a pay for view basis at The Prince Murat on Nicholson. That place was packed and rocking. What a beat down that was. They were so tired of getting beat by Bama they just EXPLODED and that series has basically been even since. I'm feeling a strong explosion vibe from this team.

I remember their QB's last name was Lewis and he was #10. I was 10 years old at the time, funny how you remember small things like that.

My mom, who passed in July, took me to the Caterie over by New Generation off Florida and we watched. I'll never forget it, esp the memory of my Mom and I being so excited.I think I was 14.
It was a beatdown. could have been 50-10. Probably my favorite Bama win ever.

I'd love it to be like 1982!! That Bama team was coached by the Bear who was at the end of his run. I don't see Saban being near the end of his run. He still a fiery little man.

I was 8 at the time and remember going to the Superdome for this game as they had viewing of it there. My whole family along with Uncles, Aunts, and cousins went to watch. This was one of my first true experiences with LSU football where I remember being completely into the game and wanting to watch the entire game. A great experience I will never forget.

I remember sitting in my living room, at home, in Algiers, listening to that game.
Great memory.
Great memory.
