Why have Louisiana FBS schools struggled so much at QB lately?

This past Saturday wasn't just an abysmal performance for the LSU offense. Three of the five Louisiana FBS schools struggled, particularly at the QB position, on their way to three embarrassing losses. Of course we are all familiar with what happened with LSU. Tulane, who has struggled for years now with poor QB play had the worst performance of all Saturday. QB Glen Cuielette threw two pick sixes and had a fumble recovered for a TD en route to a 37-6 loss to a 5-4 UCF team. ULL QB Anthony Jennings went 17-30 with 0 TDs and ULL lost 23-13 to an Idaho team that gives up an average of 33.3 points per game. While La Tech and ULM both had good days it still seems to me like given all the talent LA produces, these major in-state programs shouldn't struggle as much as they do (and so consistently) at such an important position. Does LA just not produce good QBs? And if you believe so what is your theory on why?

Around the state you still see so many teams putting an athlete at QB and never actually developing a true QB. Jontre Kirklin, a commit of ours, plays QB for his team, but is in no way a QB at the FBS level.

Traditionally, our state does not produce elite level QB's, but are full of RB's, DB's, and receivers. It has been that way forever and will likely always be that way. Luckily for us, Texas is next door and produces QB's like crazy. We should never be without a competent player at the QB position, plain and simple.

I don't care what state qb is from.

Just get us one that can take over a football game.

Last three Tech QBs have averaged more than 390 yards a game. Current year passers averaging 360 yards a game with 32 passing TDs.

The Bulldogs are solid! I like watching that team.

What I want or what I'd accept?

I suppose I want what everyone else wants. Strong arm, strong leadership skills, accurate, tall, smart enough to read coverages, stays out of trouble, great pocket awareness, agile enough to avoid the rush...etc. Speed is a plus, but I wouldn't necessarily look for it.

To play at an SEC Championship level:

* Quick Information Processing skills.
* Can go through Progressions.
* Can Read Defenses.
* Clock and Game Management skills.
* Throwing accurate and "Catchable" passes.
* Pocket mobility. (Don't need flat out speed)
* Good arm strength. (Don't need "Great" arm strength)
* "Mental Mistakes" kept to an absolute minimum. (Goes back to #1)

QB needs to pick up second and third receivers if primary receiver is covered.

Still blows my mind that we missed out on Dak Prescott.
