More important question...

Did Mizzou just win the east two years in a row?
Pretty sure. OP got into his parents' drugs.
If anything, MSU from the West rarely fields a competitive team.

the SEC needs to get rid of Mizzou and Aggie. They will never assimilate into the SEC culture.
You folks are all forgetting another element.
Vandy, TAMU and Mizzuo are way ahead of the rest of the SEC in academics. The PC crowd hates athletics over academics. The SEC is not gonna drop it's best schools.

Its like asking why Dallas plays in the NFC east when the entire NFC South, NFC North and one of the NFC west are more east then they are. LOL.

Mizzou has won their division more times than Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Texas A & M, and Kentucky.

Yes-it's all about the Benjamin's. With Missouri come the Kansas City and St. Louis TV markets and most if the Midwest.

Do more idiots come out during bye weeks every year?

That goes back to when the AFL/NFL merged. Dallas' GM, Tex Schramm, saw the opportunity to get the Cowboys in the big media markets in the northeast...$$$

Mizzou: party school with good academics and solid sports set in a college town with deep traditions. Sounds a little like Georgia, but west of the Mississippi. Brings in viewers from St. Louis and Kansas City as well as a smattering across the Midwest. Gives the SEC a toehold in the Midwest. Would VaTech have been better as far as TV is concerned? Possibly. It's still a good get for the SEC.
Vandy: the best school in the conference by far, competitive in athletics though not particularly football, has southern ties and has a long history of tradition. Founding member.
We play Mizzou next year. Vandy in 2019.
Under Gary Pinkel, Missouri has won the SEC East twice, been one game shy of a national title game, and have a 113-66 record. Mizzou has had 6 first round draft picks since 2009 and 26 players selected since 2002. They are 6 and 4 in bowl games under Pinkel. In the last 8 seasons, Mizzou ranks 12th nationally in wins.
And sucking a golf ball through a garden hose would make you a great vacuum. Who gives a shite? Success in football is often cyclical. Just ask Michigan or USC. FSU and Clemson give us nothing but better football teams now. They give us nothing in terms of markets, academics, or recruiting grounds since the SEC is already present in Florida and South Carolina. When they turn the corner and start sucking again, would you want to kick them out? Are you 14?

But more important, neither program has the means to field SEC-caliber football teams on a consistent basis

Like it or not, replacing them with FSU and Clemson would add much needed quality to the SEC East

St. Louis and Nashville. 2 large and important TV markets...

If we're never going to play them, I don't see how it's any help to us to keep splitting a share of the money with them.

Same problem.

Va Tech would have given the SEC a even larger geographic footprint
Virginia Tech did not want to leave the ACC. They voted to raise the ACC exit fees to $50 million.
LINK /
The ACC raised its exit fee to roughly $50 million thanks to a 10-2 vote – nine votes were required for passage – with Florida State and Maryland dissenting.
P.S. This $50 million exit fee probably means no ACC school will be moving to another conference.....

Major conference exit fees
The SEC is the only major conference with no restrictions!
Other conferences must pay a lot of money and/or give up to 2 years advanced notice. Some forfeit their tv rights for around 10 years.
Any conference moves will be costly!

Please let me know when the Rant starts having threads about academic statistics and success - you know, things like: student-athlete class attendance rates per sport, average GPA for student athletes, median GPA for members of the football team, Buga's GPA, graduation rates per sport, over/under academic casualties per sport per annum, etc.
Again, be sure and let me know when anyone on this site gives a crap about that stuff.

SEC attitude: Leave when you're ready, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
