Missouri is great for the conference. It's aTm that is the embarrassment.

Like someone said: aTm are like dorks who arrive at a new school and act like they've been cool all along.

I was hoping Va Tech would have manned up and agreed to join when they were offered. At least they are a eastern team and somewhat southern. What about Clemson?

Missouri gives the SEC a larger geographic footprint and Vandy gives us academic credence.

This was necessary for the SECNETWORK contract. The more people the SEC covers, the bigger the contract!

Vanderbilt is a charter member. Among other reasons, they won the CWS in 2014 and have the Wrigley Field of college basketball.

Dumb question.

Va Tech would have given the SEC a even larger geographic footprint with Richmond, Hampton Rds, and the DC area.

the SEC needs to get rid of Mizzou and Aggie. They will never assimilate into the SEC culture.

The year by year rotation for LSU is as follows: 2014 home vs. Kentucky; 2015 at South Carolina; 2016 home vs. Missouri; 2017 at Tennessee; 2018 home vs. Georgia; 2019 at Vanderbilt; 2020 home vs. South Carolina; 2021 at Kentucky; 2022 home vs. Tennessee; 2023 at Missouri; 2024 home vs. Vanderbilt; 2025 at Georgia.

Get over it. Missouri and the Aggies are here to stay. They are great for the SEC. It is more than football.

Please stop with the nonsense. Vandy is the academic flagship of the conference. There are more sports in the conference than football, and Vandy is generally competitive in baseball and basketball. It is also a charter member of the conference. Vandy will never be kicked out of the conference. Period. Move on to something else.

As pointed out Mizzou won the East the last two years in football. Traditionally it is also a good basketball school. Mizzou and A&M are the two most recent members invited by the conference to join. Would it not seem really strange to boot either of them out since they were invited to join so recently?

Mizzou and A&M don't belong here. I was never okay with it. It's downright stupid as hell that Austin and College Station are 80 miles away and they don't play anymore.

IMO, A&M is a great fit. LSU and the Ags have always had a "hate" for each other. Just because A&M is in another conference is NOT the reason they don't play UT. Horns do not want to give them any recognition, satisfaction, or revenue of any kind. Gators and 'Noles play every year. It's not a conference thing.
Mizzou is an awkward fit, but brings basketball and high academic standards, and oh BTW, they won the East the last 2 years in football.

Missouri won the East the past two seasons and Vandy is good at quiz bowl. Next question.

Do you realize there is more to the SEC than football? Candy has had a strong basketball and baseball program for several years now.

quote: Mizzou and A&M don't belong here........The SEC is a cultural construct, in addition to an athletic one. The SEC follows the geographical outlines of the old Confederacy, except for the fact there's no representation from N. Carolina and Virginia in the SEC. Kentucky, Missouri and East Texas were on the periphery of the Old South so by this measure A&M and Mizzou DO belong there. Also, the Missouri River valley where Columbia is located, has long been known as "Little Dixie", furthermore solidifying its ties with the South.

Well, retard, you do realize that there are other sports besides football, right?

Oh, and Mizzou has won the east twice in a row. Wanna just get rid of the east?

Like it or not, replacing them with FSU and Clemson would add much needed quality to the SEC East. Anybody agree?

there aren't enough downvotes for this statement alone.

Missouri doesn't have the recruiting base to compete.

a couple SEC Easter Division Championships dispute that...

But more important, neither program has the means to field SEC-caliber football teams on a consistent basis

the SEC is more than just football. Vandy is a contender in baseball every year and Mizzou came into the conference as a basketball school anyway...

admission requirements too high

Awww, what's wrong TNTigerman...you didn't get into Vandy? It is an establishment of higher education after all...admission shouldn't be easy, and apparently admission isn't impossible due to the sheer number of students they already have.

Sure, by default. What do you think their record would have been those two years if they were in the SEC West (which, geographically, they should be) and played a Western division team's schedule?

We should kick Georgia and Tennessee out as well.
