Better talent at his disposal at lsu and highly likely it will be a significant pay raise

Sounds like PSU wont come near the money LSU is willing to pay a DC.

Prestige and $$$.

Even if Les gets run off for his horrid offense, Shoop can shine and build his resume with a great defense. His defense isn't necessarily tied to les's failings.

Did I miss the report that he actually wants to leave Penn State, or are you assuming? I sure as hell hope we can get him here.

I was reading the comments to an article on pennlive.com about the chance of hiring Shoop and everyone is pretty convinced that Shoop is gonna leave if offered. Said he was the best coach on their staff.

Big pay raise. Better players. Most respected conference in the country. Best competition and environments in the country.

He's still just 48years old and probably wants to be a Head Coach of a major program. We are a great school to be at that could vault him to the head coac convo of a big program in a few years if he does a good job.

Compared to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast?

NOPE.

Housing in rural PA can be a bargain compared to, say, Jersey, NY, MD, DC, and Virginia. But State College real estate isn't as cheap as the rural areas (I know, we looked a few years ago), and many of the more expensive houses around State College are old colonial or bungalow styles with refinished attics/basements sellers use to add to their square footage. You're going to get a very different (and better, imo) house paying $350k or so in Baton Rouge than you will in State College. Maybe really high-end houses (new construction in the 750k plus range, say) is comparable to what you'd get in BR...but your dollar for value is not going to be cheaper in BR in my experience living in this area for 20 plus years.

If my husband could take the summer heat in LA, we'd retire there given how much real estate we could get for our money compared to where we live now.

OH, almost forgot...food in Louisiana is far superior to that in PA.
