I'm assuming we have nothing to do with the sec scheduling but playing the hard teams late in the season is devastating to our playoff chances. The sec as a whole should see that we can send more teams to the playoffs if we schedule the rivalry games earlier in the season so teams have time to recover from the dropped rankings by season end. You just can't take a loss late in the season like you can early on.

Let's move Bama to August.

Or join the Big XII.

it's been one of the biggest games of the year...and it's been played late in the year for many many years anyway

Because college football needs to be important in November.

How about LSU just move to Conference USA so they just don't have to worry about playing Bama period?

Ok we have 3 but that doesn't mean we will in the future. We dropped all the way to 9 with 1 loss to bama. If all teams in front of us continue to win and we win out, we miss playoffs even though other teams in front of us had 1 loss as well. It's crazy for the sec to do this to ourselves.

That usually does the trick.

Edit: plus it takes them out of the hunt.

LSU was still in the hunt despite losing to Bama. Not getting dominated in that game would have helped matters too, as it was never close.

Doesn't matter when you lose if you lose 2+ games and don't win your conference.

Unfortunately beating bama hasn't been an option. We need to tactically sneak our way into the playoffs avoiding bama on the way there.

I think LSU should start scheduling Alabama earlier in the year, but that's just me. Why does it always have to be November? We're not actually rivals.

All schools play most of their conference / divisional games late in the season. You don't start out playing vs your conference / division and then have 4 OOC games to close out the season. Plus, teams typically improve as the season progresses. You don't wanna play bad teams late in the season when you're gearing up for a playoff run or whatever. And most of the postseason bowl games and playoff spots would be locked up by week 7 if you played yoir best opponents early on in the season.

Late in the season = postseason implications = bigger games = better tv

Would be stupid to have cupcake OOC opponents to close out the season.

Doesn't this also apply to Bama? I think we all need to wake up to the fact that Saban doesn't poop vanilla ice cream.
