I've never understood where this came from? Who started it? It's such a random thing to stick on somebody.

Auburn fans ripped it off from Oklahoma fans who said it to Nebraska fans aka Cornhuskers. Like all things Auburn it's bullshite and stupid but somehow it stuck. But frick them though, corndogs smell and taste delicious as does any LSU tailgate. It's dumb.

ETA: They're jealous that our campus smells like delicious fried food on gameday while theirs smells like a rusted out, moldy trailer.

Wrong. It had been around long before that. That's just what took it mainstream.

We might smell like a lot of things but corndogs is not one of them.

An Auburn fan took it and changed every reference to Nebraska to LSU. It stuck because it got a reaction. It’s dumb but kind of funny. In no way is it original, though.

Agreed. Now, they want to call us Boudin Balls or Jambalaya, and I'll have no argument.

Can confirm. Had one at the Okie State Fair the other day. Sublime. Never had one in Baton Rouge though.

So someone post this search advice the other day. For example, using your query you would type in the address bar the following:

tigerdroppings: corn dog smell

I always thought it was because when you mix 200,000 people in a small radius drinking liquor and beer for 12 hours straight in 100+ degree heat, it produces a very pungent "odor". Somebody said it smelled like corn dogs one time long ago and it just stuck.

The OU fans calling the Cornhuskers Corndogs is true and some thought it may have come from there.

But now most folks recognize the origin of us smelling like corndogs comes from a post by an Auburn Fan in a thread on Rivals.com circa 2006. Now whether or not HE was inspired by the Nebraska Corndog insult, I don't know.

I was most definitely called "corndog" by rabid drunk Ole Miss Fans in the Grove in 2007.

I think it's funny. Like the Jorts in Gainesville, the Gumps marrying siblings, Aggies being gay, etc. Just adds to the competitive spirit in the SEC.

Auburn started it years ago. I don’t think most conceive of frying oysters, shrimp, frog legs at a tailgate. Their trailer park memories are of corndogs
