It seems like in every game that I watch these days, my five year old kid has more arm hair than all of the players on the field combined.

Why is this?

Perhaps because portions of their arms are taped so often. Perhaps the fad is still around to have no body hair. Perhaps it is a side effect of 'roids......kidding on that one.

Makes it easier to tape.

The "removing tape" theory would make sense if they taped their entire arms, but they don't do that. I can clearly see untaped hairless arms.

Just seems odd to me, both for what it is and for how universal it seems to be.

No, not at all, if you had to get taped everyday would you shave only the area that gets taped and look like a douche or finish the job. Common sense

So that can be the excuse...

"...baby, I shave my jock because the coaches tape my ankles and...well...I just thought that rather than looking like a douche, I'd just finish the job!"

Yep.

But seriously, though, the tape can extend up to 3 or 4 inches up the arm from where it meets the wrist. If you just shaved one half of your forearm, and not the upper half, you'd look like a total idiot.

Also, it's not just for taking the tape off, it's also for making the tape stick easier when you put it on. When you tape something up on top of a bunch of hair and sweat, things find a way of slipping off pretty quickly.

You shave them so you don't have just your wrist/hand shaved while the rest of your arm hairy. As far as shaving your jock, you'd get more blowjobs if you did.

That's why they use prewrap.

Many males shave their arms these days. What planet have you been on causing you to suddenly be perplexed by this?

BTW, men are wearing earings also!!!

shaving the arms/body shows more muscle tone too. i did it for amatuer bodybuilding and once it is done you do not stop, because it grows back thick

I had a friend who was a big cyclist. He used to shave his legs - all the way up - to avoid road rash in case he ever fell. The asphalt grabs the hair and takes the skin with it. I'm sure the same can be applied to football when blocking/tackling.

I think its just more of a preference. A lot of guys I played FB with used to do it saying it made it easier for Dr.'s to treat and examine in case of injury. I never bought into that, so never tried it. As far as taping, prewrap keeps it off the skin and hair, so no advantage there.

+1 exactly right
I can see that most of the people here didn't get taped everyday for practice. Probably just for the game.
