I think there is definitely an equipment issue; an issues that is exagerated when defenses get chippy. We had the same issues last year. Fournettes facemask is an example, and we had plenty of guys losing their helmets. It may be an issue that needs to be addressed by coaching. The players might need to be reminded to buckle their helmets. I don't know, but it sure does seem to effect LSU more than other teams and I watch alot of games, not just LSU.

do you know how stupid that statement is. you can say that about any penalty that is called.
Holding- at least he is trying to keep the DE from getting to his QB
Offsides- at least he is being aggressive and trying to anticipate the snap
hit out of bounds - at least he is being aggressive and making sure the player goes out of bounds and doesn't turn upfield
pass interference- better than letting the receiver catch the ball
personal foul kick to the groin- at least he showed he's not going to take any shite
block in the back- better than letting him make the tackle
etc -you could go on forever with this stupid shite

If you can't discern the difference between these and what happened on Saturday then I can't help you.

The rule as it pertains to line play is grossly unfair. Is a lineman supposed to disengage and let an end light up the quarterback because he gets his helmet ripped off. I don't think the solution was well thought of in that specific case. How exactly does transferring the risk from one guy to another helping player safety?

Exactly. Apparently in the name of player safety though this is supposed to be the correct course of action

I say again: I don't fault an offensive lineman for finishing the play. He drops to the ground and the lineman he's blocking has a free shot on your QB.

Second week in a row hawkins has his helmet pulled off by his facemask. Les said they need to get the equipment guy to refit him. He likes the rule, but they are missing the hands to the face on the other team.

Hawkins stopped for a second but two dbs try to run around him, so he naturally still makes a move to block. But still, his helmet was pulled off by his facemask. that is a penalty on the defense.

will you arse hats watch the freaking game and stop spouting out complete bullshite? hawkins did stop, dbs try to run around him and he takes a step, which is natural. His helmet was ripped off by his facemask, the refs must be complete dumb mofos to continually blow calls game after game.

Hawthorne brought this up prior to CLM's show this afternoon. . What happens when the player with no helmet, just standing there per the rules, is blocked by an opposing player? Is THAT a personal foul? But at the same time, Hawkins said that his helmet gets sweaty & it comes off easily. So..does this happen at practice? Are the coaches not making a issue out of it then, at practice?

Or maybe it had more to do with that Defender basically punching Hawk in the head and coming at him ever after the helmet was off. You want to see that intensity in your left tackle. What about a hands to the face penalty?

Totally disagree, rather have the lineman continue to protect the QB than just stop and risk having the QB drilled and injured. No time to stop, look around, judge the situation, and then re-engage is needed.

The most aggravating part of both of those penalties is that in both cases the helmet was removed by hands to face by the opponent that did not get flagged.
