We all complained about Stud forever but this is the worst offensive line play I've seen and with experienced players.

I don't know. It's only been 4 games. Maybe he likes different types of OL? Needs to recruit his guys?

Give him more than 4 games before you write him off.

The same ones upset with Stud who thought Grimes was some sort of savior are the ones most upset now,

The new scheme will take time, and these aren't the type of guys to run it. I think a guy like Brumfield will excel though. Pocic and Domond too.

I'll give him another year. Maybe, just maybe, the reason he is here is because

- they knew Stud was not getting the job done (scouting, recruiting, developing, coaching) and
- they knew last Winter how bad we were going to be this year and
- they knew they had to make a change before it got even worse and
- they knew it would take a couple of years to get the OL where it needs to be

But, based on initial performance where Grimes is the OL coach and the running game coordinator, well ......

Take time to adjust to a new scheme? This looks like the exact same offense that we've ran for 5 years and every guy on the line besides hoko has been doing it for at least 3

Studs problem was that he (and Les) could never bring in or develop NFL level offensive linemen.

We have two OL on current NFL rosters that played more than a season with Les (i.e. weren't a senior in Les' first year) or that were signed by Les in his now 10 seasons here.

Maybe it wasn't Stud's X's and O's but that we aren't getting and/or developing the Johnny's and Joes?

I have no idea how Grimes will turn out (early returns are not good). But Les better never mention his OL being good again in early August and we had better start figuring out a way to recruit and coach more dominate OL. Who can play Cam Robinson for going to Bama, starting from day 1, and his noticing the first three round draft picks in the last 3 years of their OL overwhelm our total number of OL in the league currently (including those pre-Miles)?

This type of thinking kills me. If you don't have your guys adjust your style until you do. Don't try to force a square peg into a round hole.

I do.

Hard to block 9 in the box. Also hard to block when defenses know exactly what is coming.

The point I was trying to make is that the grass isn't always greener. I don't know if Stud would have done any better but people can stop making excuses for Grimes. He has had plenty of time to get these guys up to speed. Its his job to simplify the scheme if they aren't getting it. The line play has been just awful and we have a all American left tackle and a center that was suppose to be one of the top guys in the country.

I still think he'll be better. Stud couldn't recruit for shite. I will give Grimes some more time.

It doesn't help we have virtually no threat to pass the ball. Last year we had an elite QB and 2 elite WRs to keep defenses honest.

I think we've got a bunch of soft lazy bodies on the line right now I'll tell you that.

so we have to wait 2-3 years until we see the brilliance of this OL scheme?

why the hell did we hire an OL coach who was the antithesis of our OL talent on hand?

Don't get mad at me. I'm just telling you how it is. Michigan has the same problem.
