hit and runs

Don't need speed for this. The guy behind you should be putting the ball in play. You can hit and run with Brad Cresse on first. Speed isn't necessary.

You don't need speed for this, but what happens if the pitch is wild or the batter can't get a stick on it is the guy getting pegged at second. That's what happened to on Sunday.

Right. Typically you would be dead in the water anyway. As a runner, you aren't trying to get a huge jump on a hit and run. You are making sure the pitcher goes to the plate, and a lot of times you will see the runner even turn his head over his shoulder to look back at the play. Even the fastest of runners can get pegged in that situation.

Again that doesn't have to be true, although I acknowledge accepting your premise (which I don't necessarily ) it would be true. The 2009 team had multiple straight steals off of hit and run attempts gone awry. That is what speed in those positions affords you.

if this were an mlb team with power 3-6 rhymes as a 4 hole wouldnt make sense. you cant take one of your best run producers out of the heart of a college lineup though.

I agree. I think he is third on the team in RBIs. He is producing runs where he is at. Like I said, I don't think I would ever move him except to give Laird a shot in the leadoff spot. The reason I am saying Rhymes be moved is because I don't know if we would have a better fit for the 2 hole if Laird were in the leadoff spot. However, even if PM stuck Laird in the leadoff spot, he would never move Rhymes out of the cleanup spot.

Jared Foster is hitting .500. He must play every day. Bat him leadoff so he can get as many at bats as possible. I mean, a .500 hitter is being totally underutilized. I blame a lot of people for this.

With the starter being lefty i wouldnt be shocked if he got a spot start in right tonight and led off.
