If you showed all 300 million Americans a picture of Shaq and Maravich, Shaq is going to crush him in familiarity

Shaq is more famous

If you then showed the pictures to all 6 billion in the world, the gap would be even larger

Pretty much this. He is known for his childish antics on the field A LOT more than he is known for going to LSU.

And for proof that I am not a hater, here is some things in my office at work.

shaq because he is on TV all the time. People recognize him and know him now more than magic and bird and maybe even jordan (today's generation)

by a mile the most retarded comment on this board. Shaq is on a VERY small audience that nobody gives a shite about.of all time? Once you've seen what I've seen, come see me child.

It's generational and geographical. Ask this question in Auburn Alabama. It's Jamie Howard.

Shaq is obviously #1. 2 is OBJ. Younger generation doesn't know Pete. The same people who know Pete also know Shaq/OBJ. Why is this even an argument?

Of course, the Pistol, since OP excluded Shaq.

Lolo is recognized by many.

Many years ago, YA Title, Billy Cannon and Jim Taylor would have been worth a mention.
