I remember seeing Josh D get handled, quite a bit. Nick Farley ate him alive during the Auburn game.

ETA: Nick Farley ate everyone alive......bad example

Collins is a beast in head to head matchups but Josh is an excellent pulling guard. There is timing, agilety and quickness involved. Not every lineman has this skill. This is where Dworaczyk fits in. I played guard in high school and it's purely precision blocking. He may not start but look for him in on these type plays.

It's Josh's to lose and Collin's to take. Both will rotate either way.

Collins is actually a tad more agile..........josh is the wise old owl which is golden in gelling the unit.

Agree completely,Collins is an animal and will be a great LT after Faulk becomes a millionaire.
Josh D will be very important to how much success this team has, experience on the OL is invalueable.

Yeah, I figured I was going to hear that! Bad example. Throughout that season I just remember when someone broke through the line or a block was missed, it was either Josh D or Hebert...

A couple of quotes from these two:

"The best thing that happened for me is that Josh got a sixth year," Collins said. "He can coach me. He can tell me how to do things and what went wrong on certain plays."

"La'El and I are great friends," Dworaczyk said. "He comes out and I ask him what he sees. We have a great relationship. Everybody on our offensive line got stronger since last year. La'El really got stronger. He has some of the greatest footwork and strength I've been around."

IMO, Offensive line may be best ever!!!!

Trying to look at it objectively I would think if they are relatively close on who will end up the starter I am guessing it would make sense to go with Collins as he would seem to have a much bigger upside. This would also free Josh to be the utility lineman and come in fresh against tiring DL or backup DL. I dont think Collins could play 4 positions at this point of his career an would think Josh could play all but center.

Hopefully Collins but Miles will start Darostick. Hopefully Joshy will tone down the late hits and dirty plays this season.

What specific "late hits and dirty plays" is The Bot referring to?

He had three caught on tape during the 2010 Alabama game. You have to assume it was more than that.

LSU-Bama '10

He had one penalty (personal foul) vs Bama in '10 - late in the 4th qtr.

That personal foul was the culmination of a game full of that shite. One personal foul and two more things caught on film. Punching the sides of a player on the ground and a cheap shot after the fake punt...
