I haven't noticed the media lobbying for Caleb Williams. Penix, sure. And the McCarthy thing is kind of weird.

Williams hasn't been as prominent with the media talking heads for a week or so, but mark my words: one good game for him will set the tongues wagging his way again.

Penix has had two "meh" games yet he's still getting reacharounds from the media, especially the live-TV talking heads. I don't see that changing unless UW gets whacked in a game.

McCarthy is a serviceable system QB on a good team, but I think he's getting his knob slobbered on for the same reasons Mac Jones did. I think (and hope) that at some point his team gets ground down so that idiot talk will cease.

I'll say it again: It's one thing to be a good QB when the system makes you look good; it's quite another thing to be a good QB on a team where you make the system and team look good.

I hope that, in the end, JD5 keeps up his pace and the voters see that distinction when they cast their ballots.

I think its Penix, JD/Mccarthy.

McCarthy gets that monster game with OSU that everyone will watch.

Caleb Williams isn't winning the Heisman this year. It's a two man race between Penix and Daniels.

McCarthy sucks and Harrison could steal it

Media seems to be warming up to McCarthy.

Osu defense will make McCarthy look bad . Mark my words on that. Please bookmark .

I’ve never been more confident about something. They did the same thing against the Penn state qb . The big ten is super weak at the bottom and for some reason Michigan only has to get up for one game every single year .

Given the way tOSU has played, I think there's a good chance that UM goes down in that game (and takes McCarthy's Heisman fever dream along with it).

Sorry for the broken record, but McCarthy is a system QB benefitting from the performance of the rest of his team (on both sides of the ball).

Imagine for a second where JD5 would be on that list if both sides of LSU's team were playing at the same high level? He'd be further ahead of the rest of the pack than Trump is in the GOP nomination race.

If you base it on what the Heisman is supposed to represent, then comparing McCarthy and his stats to Jayden and his stats would be laughable.

If you then toss in who was the most valuable person to their team? I'm pretty sure that Michigan would still be pretty good if they played another QB, as long as that QB could fit the system (Mac Jones says "Hi"). Take Daniels out of the picture for LSU this year? Nuss is good, but he'll need a year with the 1's before he has a chance at coming close to Jayden's overall team value this year.

Nah, in the end I think McCarthy will fall out of contention.

Harrison, OTOH could be the real threat. His stats (at his position) and his value to the team are really high, and I could see a wave of sentiment to finally pick a non-QB Heisman winner. If that's going to happen, this is probably the year they'll do it and JD will get screwed.

I can’t remember a Hesiman QB with a game having no TDs. I think JD has to win out and he’s good. JJ may be his best competition.

Johnny Manziel, but he is the exception to the rule here. That 2012 Heisman list was bad. Manti Te'o almost won.

Johnny Manziel had 3 games in 2012 with 0 passing TDs. Miss State, 0 Passing TDs, 2 Rush TDs; Florida 0 Passing TDs, 1 Rush TD in a 20-17 loss; and the game where LSU completely shut him down with 0 TDs, 3 INTs, and his season low 27 yards rushing in a 24-19 loss.

Penix is completely one dimensional and only has *three* yards rushing for the season.

I also think JJs chances will die vs OSU.

JD has a clear path and fortune favors the bold - the road starts in Alabama, let's geaux do this thing.

Totally agree. Even if our defense plays better for the rest of the year, we only win out if JD balls out. Period. If we get to the SECCG it'll be because of him and despite our defense.

No other QB can match those creds (again, assuming we win out).

Okay, it's a given that JD has to show up and hang a bunch of points in a win over the Gumps to have a chance at the Heisman.

That said, when USC plays Washington, would it be better for USC (and Caleb) to lose another game, or for them to beat Penix and the Huskies?

Inquiring minds want to know....

Anything that hurts Penix is good for JD...but dont forget he is chasing McCarthy. The signal stealing will hurt him, but if he shows up and plays lights out against OSU, it will be his probably.

The bigger question is this: If JD has a modest night throwing the ball, say 14 for 25 or so for 190 and 1 TD but rushes for 100 plus for 2 more TDs and the Tigers win....would that help him more than going 30 for 40, for 375 and three TDs but the Tigers lose?

I think the win is the most important thing. But people love stats.

Fournette wouldve easily won Heisman whatever year that was. The Bama game made the 7 incredible plays by LF7 against Auburn forgotten. We were also #2 in playoff rankings before that game.

Henry is, and was just better. He deserved it. Guys a fricking freak.
