Okay, it's a given that JD has to show up and hang a bunch of points in a win over the Gumps to have a chance at the Heisman.

That said, when USC plays Washington, would it be better for USC (and Caleb) to lose another game, or for them to beat Penix and the Huskies?

Inquiring minds want to know....

Both QBs play poorly and it ends in a score similar to Washington’s game the other night.

Not sure it matters who wins in that scenario

Williams isn’t winning it again. Only one guy has ever won it twice and that was in 1974 and 1975. Combine that with his poor performance in his last game, not happening.

Caleb Williams isn't winning the Heisman this year. It's a two man race between Penix and Daniels.

McCarthy sucks and Harrison could steal it

I'd agree with you if the entire media world wasn't riding the Williams/Penix dicktrain so hard. And when Willams shat the bed and Penix had a crappy game against a poor team, somehow that system chode from Michigan got catapulted ahead of Daniels - HOW? WHY?

Logically, Williams should be out of consideration, but is he, really, if USC actually finishes somewhat strong?

Penix had his first stinker of a game against ASsU; he was only able to muster 15 points against that turd of a team.

Yes, JD had a yawner game too, but it was the first game of the season against FSU - a team that is still undefeated and currently ranked #4 nationally. Since then he's been on an absolute tear.

So, Caleb had the benefit of pole position at the start of the season, and Penix had the benefit of a weak Washington schedule up to the Oregon game. Both QBs started off high and have NOT continued to get better.

JD, on the other hand, had his worst game of the season in Game 1, and has been nothing but money ever since then.

I think Penix is the biggest threat, and it's looking like he may have peaked too early in the season - with the remaining slate looking pretty tough.

JD won't have an easy road, either, but at least his trend line has been (and continues to be) UP. Bama and 8&4 (and maybe Florida) will be the benchmarks that make or break his legacy here. Personally, I think he's up to the task in a way that the other Heisman pretenders aren't.

Just my opinion.

The UW offense hit 3 field goals. The defense scored the only TD.

Penix and Williams have both had bad games. Williams had the 1-3 TD/INT game and Penix had a 0-2 TD/INT game.

I can’t remember a Hesiman QB with a game having no TDs. I think JD has to win out and he’s good. JJ may be his best competition.

ETA: Cam had 2 games where he didn’t throw a TD. UK - ran for 4. LSU - ran for 1.

Troy Smith also. No rushing TDs that game. Most overrated Heisman winner ever.

FCKIN ridiculous how much rides on that game for us EVERY year.

Fournette wouldve easily won Heisman whatever year that was. The Bama game made the 7 incredible plays by LF7 against Auburn forgotten. We were also #2 in playoff rankings before that game.

Same thing with Burrow in 19. But he prevailed. I feel like Daniels will as well and if he does the Heisman is his to lose regardless of what others do.

I'm of the opinion that voters are reluctant to give the award to the same person back to back

I haven't noticed the media lobbying for Caleb Williams. Penix, sure. And the McCarthy thing is kind of weird.

But I think Williams would have to utterly dominate to win again

Agreed.

He may be invited but he's not winning it.

You do realize that Derrick Henry had 2219 yards and 28 TDs compared to Fournettes 1953 yards and 23 tds? And even if you take the two playoff games out of it, he still had 1986 yards and 25 tds? And if you do that then you have to take the 212 yards and 4 tds from Fournettes bowl game.

Henry was the better running back, and he proved it even more in the nfl.

And I hate Alabama, but Derrick Henry would have still won the heisman if fournette had a good game against bama.

If they beat Bama on National TV and he has a great game with some huge plays, that will get him in the mix for real-

for some reason people think that wins in a team sport outweigh actual ability and performance in said games.

You should worry less about the PAC-12 & more so about Michigan

Wasn't that the year that LSU vs McNeese was canceled because of bad weather and lightening? That's an extra game that Fournette didn't get to play in.

His chances are dependent on him getting a signature win and having a signature moment. All heisman winners have them, some more than others.

In his campaign, he's got the stats but needs the win and the signature moment.
