It's a no brainier plus we'd get a 5star 7 footer. The problem is our AD is also a no brainier. I'm not 100% on how it works but if Robinson needed a release from his commitment would it be stansbury to grant it? That would leave him free to come with Stansbury if we hired him.. That is shady as hell. But I doubt there is a rule in place to prevent.
Agreed that it is shady, but I also think possibly some kind of violation. But whether we get this kid or not Stansbury would be a huge upgrade. Just about anyone would be at this point. But Stansbury has a lot of upside in my opinion.

Knowing Alleva and recognizing his pattern, I'd say there is zero chance we make this move.

He may have had success at State, but the 57- year-old coach of Western Kentucky is not going to move the meter of apathy very much. We need young, energetic life infused into the program. We need to get the best we can, not settle for merely better than we have.

We need a coach in the mold of the Florida hire (White). A young, energetic, successful and knowledgeable coach. He looks like he will be successful there. They used the same formula in their prior hire, Donovan.

Agree.

Instead of bringing in another coach that is simply going to maintain the status quo, why not take a chance and spend the money on a coach that could take this program to the next level?

There's no reason why LSU can't be a consistent top 25 basketball program.

A proven winner with a want to coach at LSU. What's left to discuss?

Idk, ask Jimbo or Herman

Would love this hire but Alleva leaves me with 0 confidence

We could definitely do better, but with Alleva making the hire I would be content with Stansbury. My favorite player of the Stansbury era at State was that fat frick Renardo Sidney

Even when Johnson had great talent his first 2 season he couldn't beat stansbury.

Johnson only had great talent his first year, and we beat State in Starkeville. We absolutely had nowhere near the talent State had his second year. I think you are the one that needs to check your facts a little better. I don't have time to go check your numbers right now but you were pretty off about these things so you may well be off on those numbers too.

your basis arguing against Stansbury is 100% wrong and we'd be lucky to get him. Just watch what happens if we don't.

No, I stand by my basis for being anti-Stansbury...once he lost his lead assistant his teams underachieved, I constantly commented on how poorly coached his teams looked once he lost that assistant and he is too old and void of personality.

We got a coach that's in his 50's recruits pretty well and is void of personality already.

We may stumble by picking the wrong guy but it won't be because Stansbury is the best option, it will be because our guy ain't good at getting coaches.

Where did the ridiculous term "blue chip'' originate?

I don't know but the movie starring Shaq and Nick Nolte was awesome.

I'm okay with Stans if enough guys turn LSU down. We need to shoot bigger first if we're serious about being elite (or top 25 at least).

With that said, Stans would make LSU a consistent winner and probably an occasional run, plus lock down the state and strong regional ties. Stans is no doubt better than Johnny and Trent

I would be elated if Stansbury replaced Jones. Robinson in tow or not.

Enough would have to be pretty high for me. I honestly think we're going to have to get a young up an comer from a smaller school or mid-major and hope he's the one.

I really don't think Stansbury is the answer and if he is the best we can get, hell I think it might be time for me to move on from LSU hoops.

At this point I'd take Donald Duck as head coach. Anything to get rid of JJ.

9-10 3-3 Western Ky record
Why do we want Stansbury
Quannas White and Shammond Williams are nothing more than recruiters

Impressive what Chris Collins has done at Northwestern - I would think LSU would be a better job. Big 10 better hoops league than SEC.

Wojo at Marquette as well. Marquette better hoops job than LSU.

You would think Alleva could use his Duke connections or K for some sort of guidance with another basketball hire since he is now 0-2.
