It's an older article but makes a ton of sense especially with how the men's BB team has collapsed.

I'm in.

I guess my post was after this article, but heard about this from my source.

Stansbury is a good coach miss st was always a top 3/4 sec team while he was there. When we still had divisions he constantly won the sec west. Went to the tourney 11 of 14 years, 5 west titles ,1 outright season title and 2 sec tourneyment titles Knowing Alleva I'd say this is the safest hire.

A proven winner with a want to coach at LSU. What's left to discuss?

It's a no brainier plus we'd get a 5star 7 footer. The problem is our AD is also a no brainier. I'm not 100% on how it works but if Robinson needed a release from his commitment would it be stansbury to grant it? That would leave him free to come with Stansbury if we hired him.

Somehow I think Aleva screws this up. Just me being pessimistic but also knowing Aleva.

. That is shady as hell. But I doubt there is a rule in place to prevent.

I agree with the second to last sentence of that article. It would seem to make a lot of sense.

ETA: And while he may not be an "elite" coach, he would certainly be an ENORMOUS upgrade over Jones.

I would be good with Stansbury. The guy won ball games at MSU, anyone who can do that has my approval.

They signed in November but haven't played yet. That's weird. Not sure how bound they are. Would the still have to sit for a year?

And how old is Stansbury? Why did he leave A&M if he had so much success there?

He didn't just commit. He signed.

Where did the ridiculous term "blue chip'' originate?

I know read the article it says only way he can change it is if he's granted a release. The coach is the person who grants releases so I'm guessing stansbury could grant the release. It's not that shady it happens all the time when coaches are fired or move.

Blue chip is a term that is used to identify reliable companies and their stock.

Interesting. So you can be released from an LOI if then coach does it and you haven't enrolled. Sweet. Still, the article is almost 50 days old. We shall see.

I'm not 100% on the rule but I know when a coach is fired or changes jobs players that are already on scholarship or incoming Freshman recruited by that coach often want to follow him. They request a release, it happens with transfers, and it's the coach who grants them.

In this case I don't see how they could stop stansbury from telling the kid "hey I'm taking another job you need to request a release while I'm still the coach".
