Did you really expect a freshman to continue to hit 94-95 mph this late into a season? A slight drop was inevitable considering he's probably never thrown this many innings. I think they've been trying to rely too much in his fastball recently. A&M was just sitting on in the first inning tonight.

Again, if this wasn't on top of the week off, I wouldn't think much of it.

But today was a little but more than a slight drop.

Yep, 2nd & 3rd innings were his two best innings and that's when he was very breaking ball heavy. Once A&M figured that out, he was fricked.

Well I don't think it's time to go into full blown panic mode.

Who said I was panicking? Just concerned.

I'm not too worried, but their is a BIG difference between a 91 mph FB and a 95 mph FB. Good thing is if we sweep tamu, we pretty much have a national seed in lock and he could rest for the SEC tourney and even the last series of the year

You're exaggerating now. He normally sits 92-94 with more 92's than 94's. What makes me a little optimistic is that he couldn't field his position either. That makes me think he was just off last night. Also, the Aggie's are an explosive squad. Scary how good that team could have been had they not lost two weekend guys.

False.

Wait... what?

Why does that make you optimistic?

You have thrown around the word "alarming" FWIW.

Is it cause for concern? Sure, a little. Let's see how he rebounds next week before we start chopping our dicks off.

He threw over 100 pitches in a messed up rotation. His velocity was fine most of the game. Seemed like he lost it at the end to me which is going to happen to any pitcher reaching his limit on pitches...not sure what there is to worry about. If he does it the rest of the season then you worry. As of now, it was just a little rust being knocked off, IMO.

Now, you're just being pedantic.
