I simply always was a fan. LSU was the local team.

When I was 12 my dad would call the local bar owner (small town of maybe 5,000) and ask if I could walk over and watch tigervision games. They kept root beers on stock just for me.

Went to LSU mostly to get good seats.

My family has had season tickets since I was 4 and I am an LSU grad. I live for my Tigers. I have not missed a home game in over 11 years and travel to at least 2 away games a year. I also got to see an NC my freshman year of college and my senior year which is pretty cool if you ask me. This time of year puts a little pep in my step and I live for Saturdays

Also, I stay the whole game

not sure that this is a positive thread as it may divide some from others..but I will take it as a "curiosity thread"

I became an LSU fan before I ever came to LSU. I was born in Cuba and grew up with a Cajun family..they had gone to LSU.

I hardly spoke much English at the time (only here about a year) but was listening at the 1966 Cotton Bowl on the floor on a small radio...
LSU - ARK.
even over the radio, the game was incredible.
all LSU fans should listen to that broadcast.

I became a fan that day.
...then graduated from LSU

please do not go there again..that does not make you a better or bigger fan

I grew up on Brightside, in the 80's when everything wasn't so built up we could hear the crowd after every score, it was great.

I went to LSU for a bit but couldn't figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up so I quit and started working.

My stepdad who raised me since I was 5 played for the Tigers in 1958, sometimes I just sit in the corner and caress his ring......my preciooouuss.

Great-grandfather taught at LSU. Both paternal grandparents are alumni. Both parents are alumni. All paternal aunts and uncles and all paternal cousins but one (first, second or otherwise) are alumni. I am a two-time alumnus, and my brother is currently a sophomore (by age anyway if not credit hours). All that said, it doesn't make me any more of a LSU fan than anybody else.

I was born in Baton Rouge. I applied, was accepted and was given a hefty scholarship but had to attend college elsewhere due to health concerns. If LSU's medical school was on the Baton Rouge campus, I would have been able to go.

Chose to attend LSU 10,000 miles away from home (class of 99). I've only watched "american" football on tv before then. During my years at LSU, fell in love with the game.
I still make it to two games every year and I look forward to making that trip every single time. I guess we all never graduate!

My grandfather and his brother (great uncle i think)used to film the practices and games from the Charlie Mac era...

...He used to show me these films, (the few he was allowed to keep) and teach me about LSU sports...I.E. how the golden boot was made and what it represents!

My dad also graduated from LSU and took me to my first game; the '97 Florida upset, when I was 12! I have been hooked ever since!

I also have never lived any farther than 10 minutes away from LSU, until recently when I moved to LP. I grew up on my bike around campus and can't remember a day when I didn't want to be an LSU Tiger!

It is meant to be positive and not devisive. Just interested in peoples stories. Yours is a great one.

You'll notice that I have not and will not respond to flames or negative posts. Ignoring is the best way to deal with them.

My grandfather retired from LSU many years ago after 30 years as an associate professor. Both of my parents earned undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at LSU. Aunts, uncles, siblings, you name it, received postgraduate degress at LSU. Although few of us still live in LA, we are all die hard LSU fans.

My great great great great great great great great...grandfather made the Louisiana purchase.

My great, great.....grandfather founded LSU.

All of my ancestors played multiple sports at LSU.

I was born in the NEZ and delivered by Mike the Tiger.

I went to U High and then LSU, where I played football, basketball and baseball. I was also in the Tiger Band. Halftime was rough.

I got 4 masters degrees and PhD from LSU.

I now live walking distance to LSU in a purple and gold house and work in the student union in addition to being a professor at LSU.

The same. Are we related?

I grew up in the Midwest. I got interested in LSU (and the Saints) because my dad went to school and grew up in Louisiana. His love of LSU spilled over on me when I was about 8 years old. LSU just beat Auburn 12-6 in the Bring Back the Magic game. He and his buddies had gone down to the game and when he got home he couldn't stop talking about the win. I have been hooked on LSU football ever since.
