Exactly Kleinpeter has never been like this . It's comes off as if he is upset and taking it out on BH bc he know he would commit suicide to go at LF.

First of all. They did let Harris keep throwing.

Please explain to me why we ended up with more running plays then passing plays when we were more productive passing the ball.

quote:

Harris looked like shite. He looked nervous and scared. He didn't even complete one-third of his passes.

NO frickING DUH! Calling passing plays with 2 receivers max after Bama has been in our backfield all night. I can only imagine what was going on in his head when the plays were called.

quote:

Harris attempted 19 pass plays when Alabama was expecting run. Alabama was focused on stopping Fournette . . . which they accomplished.

The amount of passing plays were not the problem as much as the type of passing plays that were called.

quote:

If LSU started chucking the ball over BDS, it wouldn't have taken Bama long to switch focus

Then we hit them with draws and delayed handoffs its called a fricking strategy.

quote:

Harris looked flustered and unfocused from the get go. He also looked like he got hurt. It would have been unbelievably stupid to put more pressure on him.

Play calling could have alleviated that.

quote:

A wise coach does not let an unproven sophomore QB lead his team instead of a battle-tested, Heisman contending RB.

How is Harris ever going to grow if they are constantly protecting him? Let him take his lumps.

quote:

Well consider for one moment that they tried Harris and he completed just 6 of 19 with a momentum changing interception.

It was one pick. The first of the season! Sometimes you have to go for broke like Miles does with running the ball. He never abandoned the run no matter how ineffective it was.

quote:

Hindsight is supposed to always work wonders. You're thinking that Bama stopped Fournette, but no way they would have stopped Harris.

The point is to keep them guessing the game plan doesn't have to be on or the other. If we would have went pass heavy and have taken their mind of the run. That's when you come back with the run game. Perfect example Smart dialed up that corner blitz and we made them pay for it. If you see they are sold out to stop the run kill them with short passes even if they are not effective show them we are willing to pass the ball. Eventually Harris would have gotten settle in.

quote:

Your proposed solution is to take something that is NOT working and try it even more.

WTF!? We were more productive passing the ball then running. So your solution is to keep running the ball???

Gotcha.

That said, this is Fan Think and would cost coaches jobs.
Games are there for winning, and practices for working on deficiencies.

I'd like to see Kleinpeter trying to write while Bama's big uglies bear down on his arse.

I'm just as fed up with the scheme as anyone, but this statement is asinine.

They were undefeated going into Bama. Is individual success more important than team?

C'mon Man

Well hell, by that metric Jordan Jefferson should have never gotten any criticism for his time at LSU. He led his team to a 9-3 season; 10-2 season and led LSU down the stretch to a SEC Championship and NCG appearance. Yet, he's considered by many here as the worst LSU QB in almost 20 years. Why? His team had great success. That's the most important thing, correct? Why should he have ever been criticized?

Since 2008 every LSU TEAM has had good to great success. Yet (except for 2013) every LSU starting QB has been ripped to shreds by the fans and media at various times for being the "weak link". The constant narrative has been that LSU wins despite their QB, not because of him. So the question remains. Have LSU's passing game woes been a result of 5 different QB's who generally weren't very good players? Or has LSU struggled in the passing game because the approach to that aspect of the game is severely lacking? After nearly seven years of constantly blaming the ever changing QB for LSU, wouldn't it be more logical to look at the common denominator though that time?

Bottom line. LSU does not put their QB in position to consistently have great success.

I really feel bad for these kids. They have to take constant criticism from the fanbase, media, etc. Yet, the coaching staff rarely does anything to put them in a position to succeed

We need Brandon to win the game. LF was just palin shutdown. I think the coaches got scared after the INT and that's when I think the game changed and we got steamrolled. They should have let BH keep throwing

Harris was not going to win the game no more than Fournette was. The game plan was not great, but it really didn't matter. Our offensive line was DOMINATED TO THE LAST MAN. Fourentte had nowhere to run, Harris had no time to throw. He hung in there the first half and took some tough shots to deliver some passes. Kleinpeter needs to shut his trap. With the exception of the INT and a few off passes due to pressure, this loss was no more on Harris, than it was Fournette. When your O line gets dominated, you have no chance no matter what the scheme is.

I don't see where Jim is wrong. It's his job to criticize. I for one agree with him. I'm tired of the talk. You're a great QB? Prove it. Get your calls in, make your reads, hit accurate throws, and make smart decisions.

People have given Harris a pass for two reasons - one, because his O Line didn't give him a chance, which is a legitimate point. But it's also because criticising Harris goes against the prevailing "wisdom" that we should've come out in the shotgun slinging the ball all over.

There's one thing we'll never know, because Les and Grimes will never tell us. But it's whether Harris was missing his line checks. I bet Saban and Smart spent a lot of time dissecting our checks and looking for ways to screw with the line calls.

Kleinpeter is toeing the company line. Miles said it first thing after game, "... the interception to start the half..." The players tweeting "Free 6" etc. this week WAS NO FRIGGIN JOKE. Harris was given the blame for the loss. Never mind that there wasn't a single O Lineman who didn't get beat on every single play... Every single lineman... every single play. The D Line made a few plays but not many. Tom Brady would have been 7 - 19 in this game. No one can pass if they set up and inside of 2 seconds there are 3 Bama players in their face.

Harris got better as the game went on and the INT never had to be. He still threw a tremendous TD pass. They should have stuck with the pass in this game.

Gotta admit, not too many Coaches could get a team to the NC with JJ.

Miles just needs to upgrade scheme....he's too successful to say he doesn't put kids in a position to succeed.
