Nola is the best pitcher in the country. There's no reason to waste your ace and lose 1-0 when you can just save him for a game you can actually win. It's a no-brainer to start someone else and hope for the best, especially when you can afford to lose a game.

Houston was playing to win. If they weren't, they would have started one of their worst pitchers and not wasted one of their best for the rest of regional.

Houston's pitching staff is not like ours. We have (1) Nola then a fairly large drop off to (2) Poche (nothing against Poche, Nola is just that good) Houston's top 2 guys are not much different.

That's why I started my post with, "if Houston has not thrown their ace."

If they have two pitchers who are equal and they picked the one they felt gave them the best chance to win, then so be it. LSU was just the better team.

Garza starting for Houston. I was wrong in my projection. I'm excited for LSU.

It was a huge mistake for Houston in retrospect. I'm wondering how long they leave him in.

With a big lead, they could pull Garza now and save him for tonight or tomorrow.

No, no no no no no

You don't pull a guy who threw 50 pitches and cool him off for 5 hours, before starting him again. unless you want to ruin him. Hell When is the last time you saw someone go 50+ and turn around and start the next day.

Like I said in the other thread, and burn up their bullpen?

They have to beat us twice, and they arent going to do it with a depleted bullpen.

Have Garza go all 9 right now and save your bullpen.

If they pulled him now he could throw a few innings tomorrow. I doubt they leave him in much longer.

With the way SLU is hitting him, I wish UH would have saved him for LSU.

You can strategize all you want but u don't get eliminated from a tournament without throwin your ace....u just don't do it.
