The thread is pretty respectful. If anything the UCLA fans are envious.

what they fail to mention is that Los Angeles has a bigger population than all of Louisiana. so they should still have plenty of fans to go around.
Someone out there needs to convince their powers that be that if they build it, fans will come....I like UCLA (except for this weekend), and I have no doubt that they would have a big following if they would just invest in the program's facilities. With a 1,200 seat stadium, their sport must be a loss leader and not make much money....it has been proven that college baseball can be a profitable venture.

UCLA could easily draw more if their baseball team has more success. Their softball team is a national powerhouse and they draw more than the capacity of their baseball stadium.
As far as football, they play their home games at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. I'm not sure how they do attendance wise.
Maybe some older fans can help me on this...wasn't there a time when they split home games at the Coliseum with USC?
ETA: I just remembered that their softball team just hosted Ulala in their super regional. I sure hope they're not gonna prejudge us due to their fans.

We do solid attendance wise. We don't sell out the Rose Bowl, but considered the mediocrity that has permeated the program for over a decade now, around 70,000 a game is respectable.
We used to split the Coliseum with SC. When our school was established in 1919 we were going to get state money for a new stadium on campus, but LA got the 1932 Olympics so that money went to building the Coliseum and the state told us to go play there. We played there until the Raiders moved into the Coliseum and the Rose Bowl approached us about moving there.

Thanks Ryan, I appreciate the info.
Now, to the REAL question. What's the revenge factor gonna be like for the coming season's football game since Petey bailed like a little bitch?

With the amount of talented baseball players in Cali, if they upgraded their facilities it could lure some of these guys to play there. UCLA has the potential to be a national power every year.

you are correct. 13 million in the metro area is more than the combination of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
Maybe he shouldnt be bragging ...

Ryan, did you follow Chris Markey? He played football for the Bruins and was out of Jesuit New Orleans. That boy could run!!!!! I congratulated him when UCLA beat $C.

The LSU fans that I sat with at the 2000 CWS were sufficiently obnoxious that LSU is one of the few college baseball teams besides usc that I actively root against.
And yet I bet this guy will mooch off every LSU tailgate he can find. And the people will feed him willingly.

However, half of the population doesn't speak english and are more likely to go to a jai alai game than college baseball.

In Los Angeles there are simply too many other competing activities to build a college stadium of that magnitude.
So they build a bigger SOFTBALL stadium than their baseball stadium? This excuse makes zero sense.
They have more people and a 1200 person stadium. If there are so many things to do there then how do they draw close to 1400 for softball? How do they draw 10k for track? 5k for tennis? It has zero to do with having other things to do and everything to do with how much they succeed. Those sports draw more fans have bigger stadiums and face the same "competing activities" as the baseball team does.

Because their baseball schedule interferes with their acting and yoga classes

Half is still more than louisiana's population. Not to mention LA is not the only city in cali.
