our defense got abused. it is the primary reason why we lost that game. even if we hadn't gotten screwed out of the first TD and had not committed a zillion penalties we still would have lost that game. they scored virtually every time they had the ball.

It was almost 100% on our Dline. Key is the only one who got any pressure and they were pushed around All night. Dline recruiting has been sub-par the past few years (on O) and with 2 injuries (Lawrence & Alexander) it showed.

For sure everything went right for State on Offense. They executed like a mid- season veteran team and LSU didn't. Plus what I would call a particularly one-sided flag-happy team of officials made our own messes and miscues even harder to overcome.

This, I found myself glad when State passed cause when they ran we had no chance of stopping them, when they passed there was a chance Fitzgerald could misfire.

maybe because O hired an 80 year old man to coach the defensive line?

The real riddle is why did the best defensive coordinator in the country get abused so badly.

In no way should the blame be on Aranda. His football IQ is up there with Saban and the best. It was not the playcalling.

You can call the best plays, but when you can't execute on defense...well you saw what happened Saturday night.
We were getting embarassed up front and missing assignments. Coaching can only do so much. These guys just did not perform.

This has been talked about plenty.

The defense got abused no doubt and it boiled doesn't to 3 things.

Players not playing their assignments

Missed tackles

Drive extending penalties. Remember there were at least 3 State scoring drives extended by penalties when the D held on third down.

How many guys were absent or injured on the DL? It was quite a few. No Lawrence, no Herron, injured Ed Alexander, less than 100% Key.

Honestly those might be LSU's four best DL and all were either banged up or completely absent. Then you have Farrell who got ejected. Are any of you actually surprised that LaCouture and Gilmore couldn't manhandle MSU's OL by themselves? I know I'm not.

Obviously you'd like to see more from Logan and Clark but there wasn't a whole lot LSU could have done differently. Farrell's ejection and Alexander's injury were the worst two things that could have happened given the circumstances heading into the game.

you can say this but we had 3 DL starters not play due to injury and ejections

But but but the rant worships Aranda he can't do anything wrong he's flawless and if they'd acknowledge the truth they wouldn't be able to start 340 anti-O threads for the third straight day.

DL injuries, suspensions, and ejections all contributed to lack of depth. This became more of a problem when penalties extended their time on the field. Gassed big boys do not do well late in games.

defense was pushed backwards for 80 yard drives nearly every defensive series.

Hell, even Chat TN ramed the ball down our throats on their FIRST possession last week IN Tiger Stadium!

Well, the defense was on the field 70% of the game. But it did suck, especially the DBs.

Didn't Devin White say after the game that Aranda told them what MSU was going to do and how to stop it, but the players didn't execute?

The defense played as badly or worse than the offense did on Saturday.

There - I said it.
