Toward answering the OP's question, what do you mean by "consistently dominating"?

You could just assume a definition and go from there. Most of us would not consider losing 2-3 games a year being "dominant."

For me, it's not losing X # of games. It's 'are we playing/winning as well as can (reasonbably so)'. And the answer is clearly no.

Sounds like neither you nor a bunch of others would even by happy if we go 15-0 . . .

Maybe - but I'd love to give it a try!

The primarily reason has nothing to do with us. Unfortunately, the premier program in the nation is our own division. No one has beaten Bama more than we have since their current coach arrived in T-Town, but it is simply a very difficult thing to do.

Secondary reasons: OL's that have been a bit less impressive than anticipated and the dip in QB play after the Perrilloux dismissal.

Possible reasons I deem insignificant: Players leaving early. Except for last year, this wasn't something we saw a disproportionate amount of. "Our head coach" - Miles is fine. He may not be an elite in-game coach, but he recruits well and generally has the team well prepared. Indeed, he compares VERY favorably to all but the elite coaches. Sure, most disinterested observers would take Saban or Spurrier over Miles. But how about Richt? Freeze? Muschamp? Miles is a very good, if not elite coach, and based on results, you could argue "elite" more easily than "merely good."

Why is it we have games like Arkansas or Ole Miss? and last year was the most talented starting roster I think ive seen at LSU but we still had those games.
You must have just started following LSU recruiting success.
From 2000-2005, LSU had #1, #2, #4 Rivals class and one season with less than 3 losses.
There was trouble with Ole Miss every year, close scrapes and losses with less talented OSU, Arky, UK,a bad UF team, UAB, Troy and underwhelming games vs a couple Div 2 teams.
With some of those recruits, I endured 30pt skulldraggings at the hands of UF, UGA, and Bama that I've never seen under Miles, even '08.

I think some rantards are too young to know, or too old to remember.

I don't think you're accurately framing the '00-'05 years.
- We didn't struggle with OM in '05.
- Is it really fair to expect recruiting results to show up right away? The '00 and '01 seasons showed improvement all the way to the end even if there were setbacks along the way.
- When did we lose to an inferior Arky team? They won the SEC west in '02. We stomped 'em in '01, '03, and '04.
