Harris' completion percentage on Saturday was 50% for about 150 yards which is Jennings' average stat line.

Sample size is going to be a problem, here. There were a couple of dropped passes that would make his stat line look a lot better. It should average out, and I'm not putting all the drops on the receivers, but there are parts of the game that Jennings couldn't do. When he did throw, Jennings was very hot and cold. Harris has been a little more consistent. Also, Harris a little better in the pocket and a little better when he runs - so, overall, it is a net gain with Harris playing now, plus Harris' upside is much higher, by almost all reports.

Like I have been preaching since last year.. Another poster just confirmed my point

quote:

LSU has capitalized on 11 of 12 trips to the red zone. With our only miss being the kneel at the end of the game this past weekend against SU. If it wasn't for the kneel, LSU would be one of only 5 teams in the country with a 100 percent red zone percentage. pretty cool stat. People can say all they want about the offense, but at the end of the day they get the job done.

And last year.. the same thing. Harris lead LSU to TDs on 10 straight possessions.. which regardless of competition.. Jennings was not doing this..

This year Harris is putting this team in the end zone.. Whether it's his rushing or his passing.. The team is just better behind him, regardless of anything else..

Harris doesn't have to throw for any certain amount of yards and he doesn't even have to pass for more TDs.. when the team is getting into the end zone. Someone tried to claim the team is just so beast that Fournette is scoring regardless. but Harris had the team responding better last season as well.. and Harris is rushing for TDs this year.. when Jennings had ZERO rushing Tds ALL SEASON long.. Jennings had WAYYY wayy wayy too many 3 and outs.. and we did not capitalize down in the red zone like we do with Harris..

This is certainly a fair question. I'm not suggesting that we switch QB's, but a large faction of this board has used stats against Jennings any opportunity they could. According to the stats, it is reasonable to expect someone that has historically achieved it could do it again. And the other argument offered; turnovers. Harris put one ball on the ground for 3-4 ticks of the clock, we we're lucky we didn't lose the ball there. Some of the drops were clearly influence by high velocity on the ball relative to the route.

So it is not really fair to dismiss the argument that the results would be materially different if the QB's have switched, with similar offensive strategy shown thus far.

I think that when Harris hits his groove and truly catches on, he will be a pretty impressive player, and the staff probably has put him as the starter as it appeared he was at least pulling even with Jennings.

AJ reached his peak...period. He was NEVER going to scare a defense. They had ZERO respect for him and knew he was lacking in talent.

BH lacks experience but has the talent. The team believes in him and our opponents KNOW he can beat them. They have to RESPECT his running and passing ability.
