Obviously the better team won on Saturday night. That's not in question. I've watched enough football at all levels from pee wee to nfl in my life time to know that something is amiss though.

So which is it?

1. SEC officials are incompetent and it randomly favors Alabama?

2. There is a conspiracy between the Sec and Alabama.

3. Sec officials are intimidated by Nick Saban.

4. Nothing at all, I'm imagining things.

SEC sucks off bama because they give the conference the best shot most years to win a title which means $$$ for the conference as a whole. Two obvious calls they missed were the holding call on the TD run and Duke picking up that fumble on the 4th down stop which he was going to return for a TD.

Nope its the Alabama brand that they favor.

Bama got less penalties when Shula was at Bama and when Saban was at LSU.

I used to dismiss the officiating...but evidence is piling up. I dunno...it's just getting harder and harder to tell people with a straight face that Bama isn't getting all the breaks.

Saturday night's game was hard to watch from the stands. It was also hard to hear with all of the booing from the missed calls. Straight up awful.

I think it is a combo of 2 and 3. The key to officiating in favor of one team is to nor make it blatant, but SEC officials can't even do that right.

Missing three blatant holds on the touchdown play was way too noticeable. The egregious no call on the helmet to helmet while Etling was in a slide was really bad.

They were pretty sly in calling the ticky tac late hit on Devon White, and not calling the similar one on Chark. I'll give them credit there.

I'd love to see the wide shot of the Hurts throwaway from the end zone, cause I'd bet there was a missed hold.

Bama and Saban leading the conference is what's "best for business." In return the rest of the sec gets tv exposure/money from the brand. Just stinks for any team not named Bama. Granted, they don't need much help, lol.

It cant be intimidation by Saban. Hell when he was at LSU the Tigers still got more penalties than a Shula based ALabama team every year had.

Saban + Bama is not the same as Saban + LSU in terms of power.

I'm not cynical to think that it's any kind of arrangement. I just think by now there's just an underlying bias that happens without really Thinking about it.

I think it's common in many sports to give the marquee teams the benefit of the doubt on calls. You can see it over and over in NBA pro basketball, Premier League soccer, NCAA college football, etc. etc.

For true 50/50 calls it's not that egregious. But sometimes they go a tad further.

About 75% of 4 and 25% of 1. The problem is how rules are interpreted. Different conferences are allowed to interpret the rules their own way. The SEC runs their own officials as do the other conferences.

I had a boss years ago in St. Louis who was a Big 12 official. Overall, he was pretty kind to other officiating crews from other conferences , but he thought the SEC officials overall showed favoritism to the more highly ranked SEC team, whether it was Bama, Auburn, FLA, etc. He also thought the old Big East officials were just plain incompetent. The best he thought were the PAC 10 guys.

What really pissed me off was the blatant cheap shot by the bama player, that was flagged, but conveniently swept under the rug because of a bs offsetting penalties call. LSU would have had the ball first down at bama 20.

Also, the interception was bobbled and ground helped him gain control. Should have been safety in the end zone. Obvious holding on TD run, plus the laughable late hit that extended the TD drive.

Little 11 (Big 10) or Little 10 (Big 12) should call LSU.

this is the answer you sometimes get from bama dick suckers. Has nothing to do with $$$ for the conference. It's just that the SEC offices are in Birmingham and most of the upper level SEC officials are Bama fans at heart. That plays greatly into the officiating.

I'm numb to it now. Happens yearly. Look nitpicking little stuff isn't the issue here, it's 100,000 people seeing a blatant hold on the game's biggest play. But I'm crazy cause I'm an LSU fan, and they lost and I'll cling to anything, right?
