Let us see if LM, unlike Jefferson, can learn from his mistakes. I am not so sure.

I think there is something wrong with expecting to win a title any year. I limit my expectation to being competitive. There's too much riding on the bounce of an oddly shaped ball to expect to win it all. LSU was fortunate to avoid major injury last season, coupled with a well above average turnover margin. Teams that have such a great turnover ratio tend to regress the following year. If one or both of those don't go the right way, 2012 LSU could be on the outside looking in come next January.

Agree. Being competetive/elite is the expectation. Defined in the SEC as competing for the SEC West...2012 should be another elite year. 2013 you have to expect a dropoff due to losing nearly the entire offensive line.

I expect to finally have an offense that can consistently move the chains, score points, play great defense, and have outstanding special teams.
Finally?

13 straight games from 2011 just called...

Because LM's track record of doing that is nonexistent. Oh wait...

The problem with LSU, as perceived by those outside the program, has nothing to do with a lack of talent; it's coaching that's the issue. Even the talking heads who supposedly "hate" us will give us credit for having one of the most talented teams, if not the most talented team, in the country. It's the coaching that's always been suspect, because we always seem to lose at least one game that we shouldn't, and a couple of those losses have been due to some questionable decisions by Miles and his staff. The fiasco in NOLA last month just serves to reinforce the perception that Miles isn't a very good coach and that the talent we have helps to mask that fact.

Our problem was QB play, and we still went 13-1 with an SEC Title.

There is no way with this schedule they could go worse than 9-3. We will be favored in all 12 games.(except maybe Arky)

true, but you just described all 120 teams in most years. Alabama should not have lost to us in Tuscaloosa, if you listen to most. Name me any team in 2012 that does not meet this criteria of losing a game they should not have lost?

I dont know. But lets be happy people and ask the question:

What if all expectations are met in 2012 and we win the NC???

There, that is just as easy to ask and alot more positive.... The glass is half full and the sky in not falling

The reasons people melt down is what's being lost in this discussion. For me personally, I could be happy with a Sugar Bowl appearance and win over a top team. Even playing in the NC game or Seccg and losing is ok as long as we show up and play like we can and show case the talent on the team.

It's when we don't show up, have major coaching blunders that stifle the team, or look unprepared that people get pissed off and vent/rant. The argument is lost because the fanboys start screaming at everyone who's unhappy about 'losing', but what they are unhappy about is the performance of the team itself.

What if it does? 2011 exceeded my wildest expectations, up until the game on Jan. 9th - by that time I had drunk the kool-aid and had let my expectations go sky-high. Stepping back from the ashes of that burning Hindenburg, for me, positive outcomes are always better than even the highest expectations. I think the Tigers will be good, but I just want to see LSU consistently play up to its potential for every game next season, and then let the outcome of each game take care of itself.

Realistic expectation = Be in the mix for the title game
Unrealistic expectation = Title or bust
