I think there is something wrong with expecting to win a title any year. I limit my expectation to being competitive.

There's too much riding on the bounce of an oddly shaped ball to expect to win it all. LSU was fortunate to avoid major injury last season, coupled with a well above average turnover margin. Teams that have such a great turnover ratio tend to regress the following year.

If one or both of those don't go the right way, 2012 LSU could be on the outside looking in come next January.

10 -2 will be acceptable only if we beat Bama and they go 9-3 or worst.

I assume that the bandwagon fans will be jumping ship and the Anti-Miles Lynch Mob will be in full force. The expectations amongst the majority of this fan base is just insane.

Considering the amount of talent, expectations should be this high

My expectation is 8-4. If it falls short of that then it'll be 7-5.

A lot of this is based on a major upgrade at QB, but ZM is an unknown quantity at this point

we almost went undefeated without a QB last year. There's a less than 2 percent chance that QB situation will be like it was or worse.

That's far from the issue. The issue is as it's been for the past several years, how does the coaching handle talented players. So far, we've seen tremendous talent mishandled time and time again by the coaching staff. ZM may be a Heisman level quarterback but it's not so much about his talent as it is about how he's utilized and coached.

I agree w/ this. I was speaking more about the crew that wanted to fire Les when we were 7-0 in 2010 b/c we were not winning games 'convincingly'.

I loved the "LSU football is not enjoyable anymore" threads that would pop up in 2010 as we won game after game to go 7-0.

Hey, all Mett and the guys have to do is go 14-0, win the BCSCG, and average 40 pts a game while giving up 10 and almost all of us with be happy/content....no biggy, huh.

Lot of sec foes will be ready for us next year.

Florida will not forget the arse raping we gave them, nor will AU. I suspect both will be much improved and we play them at their house.

S Carolina will be tough, Alabama will still be Alabama and we play Arkie in little rock.

We lose brockers, Claiborne, baker, brooks, adams, Taylor, hatcher, Francois on defense.

I think the offense takes a step forward while the defense takes a small step back. In the end, who knows? But I think a repeat of this past season in not likely.

I can say with 99.999% certainty that at this point ZM is exactly 1 QB.

Most seasons are disappointing in that they don't result in a NC. How they end has a lot to do with how they are remembered. Hell, the Iowa, PSU and Alabama BCSNCG games will be remembered more than the GT, Miami or Texas A&M games.

So, the 2010 season that ended with 11-2 and a Cotton Bowl win is/will be/should be remembered more/better than the 13-1 2011 BCSCG season cause it ended with LSU getting stuffed in the last game of the season?

Each to our own, but I remember/value seasons by the national/SEC achievements obtained and this year goes down as one of the very best in LSU history.

You have a reading comp issue. Read again, try again.

What you do seems to be the minority opinion. Whether you like it or not, the way the season ended (as did '04) will be remembered how it ended by most fans. You can try your best to pretend it isn't the case, but it is, and will be.

What if we go 0-12 and the entire team quits and LSU has to end the football program?

TM7 has to win the Heisman too. its not enough that he is defensive player of the year.
