Probably because he got all that in about the first half the season.

Strangely, there's the matter of the Arkansas game, in which Randle caught nine passes for 134 yards. Both numbers were season highs.

He had three catches for 76 against Western Kentucky in a game we had backups in for the last quarter and a half.

Randle caught more passes when Lee was regularly quarterbacking the team. I don't argue with that. But to say that he was ignored in the second half simply wasn't true. He didn't do much against Georgia or Alabama, but then again he had an opportunity to make a big play on our first drive in the SECCG and just didn't do it.

I just don't buy this "Randle didn't get a chance to do anything" business. He had plenty enough of an opportunity. He just wasn't good enough to be more prolific than he was in this offense against that kind of competition. In a more wide-open attack he might have caught a few more passes, but I'm guessing more throwing would probably have affected the stats on Peterson, Shepard and some of the other WR's and RB's rather than Randle catching 80-90 passes all of a sudden.

LSU passed 29 times in the Arkansas game. JJ's last in Tiger Stadium. In any of the othes, didn't come close to throwing that much, it was an anomaly. He only caught about 11 passes the other 5 games after the AU game, Arkansas not included.

Randle had 53 receptions for the season.

That works out to about 4 receptions per game.

He had 33 receptions in the first eight games.

Jefferson playing instead of Lee was not the problem for Randle.

Exactly when did RR complain? Don't tear down the man for wanting to play pro ball. He played hard for LSU and as far as I know was a team player.
I watched him play at Bastrop High School and followed his career at LSU and I'm looking forward to watching play in the pros. LSU fans should thank him and let it go at that.

I haven't head him complain. He just decided to move on. I think it's rumored from family that he may not have been, but never heard anything from him or seen direct quotes.

I believe RR felt he didn't get enough opportunity here to show his talents. Believe his parents were also unhappy about this.

I realize we didn't have the best QB play around here but he had 53 catches for over 900 yards and 8 TDs last year. He was 3rd in the SEC in receiving yards.

In the SEC, this is about what you get as an elite receiver going up against good defenses. I'm not sure what he was expecting. Sure, our passing game took a hit the last few games of the season (we know why) but I really don't think Randle had any room to complain if you look at the season holistically. He certainly wasn't going to get more than this at Bama either. Moreover, he had every opportunity to better those stats next year with a true passing QB replacing the pitiful passing game.

I like Randle but I don't believe he was 100% reasonable in his expectations. If you want 1700 yard seasons and 14 TDs, the SEC may not be the right place for you

Horse shite. RR made the absolute most of his opportunities. In fact, he excelled despite poor to average QB play.

All im saying is he didn't catch everything thrown to him. Regardless of who his qb or team was I just don't think he was as good as the guys that have been drafted and will be drafted 1st round this year.

What's he gonna do when he lands on an nfl team without a qb? Plenty of teams are hurting at that position. He's gonna get drafted and he was given the opp to showcase his talent. Plus I haven't seen or heard any quotes from randle or dmitch that he was unhappy here.

Get your facts right old sarge...Kenny Bell was the athlete who went to school with Randle and Randle's father told LSU if they signed Bell his son was going to AL...so Miles pulled Bell's offer and Bell went to Bama instead.

There isn't a receiver who does. RR may have had 3-4 drops that I can remember. I would say he really did well for playing in the offense he had to play in.

Question for everyone, as I am really curious as to how you think about this. If you had a son who people thought had a reasonable chance to play wide receiver in the NFL when he graduated, would you advise him to go to LSU?

My answer is that I would not. I love LSU, but I don't think that would be in his best interest as a possible pro prospect at wide receiver.

This argument is just ignorant. You do realize he was leading the SEC in almost every receiving category through the first 8 games? His production, aside from blocking, came to a complete stop when Miles decided that Jefferson gave us the best opportunity to win. I am very glad the JJ/JL crying contest is over and would sleep well never hearing either of their names again, but when people post ignorant threads(like this one) and claim the offense was more productive the second half of the season I have to speak up. RR was screwed by the replacement of JL as much as anyone on the team and in his and his family's defense, you didn't hear them complain much if at all. Good luck in the league RR and thanks for what you did give us.

Wrong, Hardbody. Kenny Bell went to Rayville. RR went to Bastrop. Different schools. 30 miles apart. Deangelo Benton graduated from BHS in 2007, 2 years before RR. DB was highly recruited in 2007, but couldn't make his grades. HE went the long route - JUCO or prep school or both? Point is, he wasn't eligilble until 2009 and that is who LSU pulled their offer to at the last minute. And he did nothing at Auburn, btw.

RR's dad had to talk him into returning to Baton Rouge his freshman season at LSU during the Thanksgiving Holidays. He never really thought much of Miles off. strategies!!!

Complaining maybe is the wrong word because he wasn't very vocal about his exit. But I also don't think he left because he had nothing left to achieve in college.

RR had every reason to be upset at the QB change but I also think he had enough opportunities to showcase his talent which he did. His lack of production in the last 4 games in a season where he had 900 plus yards receiving was not reason enough to leave. If JJ was coming back to LSU then I would have understood but Mett is very much the type of QB that RR needed under center.

maybe his family really needs whatever money they can get. I have no clue but if that's the case no one can really fault his decision...

Maybe, but the circumstances make you wonder. Usually if the issue is money and family then athletes let their friends or fans know. In this case, the statements from the family were very cryptic. RR also did not join Miles in the press conference with Claiborne and Brockers. Just a lot of question marks which lead to speculation.
